- KeishaI received a call stating that they were from JP Consultants and that I was part of a large Civil Lawsuit. In order to avoid large, costly court fees, I should call them pack to resolve this in writing. The indicated they have sent notices to my address, however I have not received anything.

- sickofit| 1 replygot a call from a woman named theresa stating that she was from JP Consultants and she's been assigned to do the paperwork in which I'm a part of in regards to a large civil suit and in order to avoid expensive litigation and costly fees associated I needed to call her back immediatly because court is on May 15. She said she is sure I'm aware because she's mailed all the paperwork to my address regarding thousands of $ that is at issue. She said to call her back and left a 6 digit file number.
I have not received anything from this company and I certainly haven't received any thing in regards to a court case on 5/15. If there is one then they will be there but I will not.- Caller: jp consultants

- Alfalfa replies to sickofitThe Federal Trade Commission (FTC), the nation's consumer protection agency, is warning consumers to be on the alert for scam artists posing as debt collectors. It may be hard to tell the difference between a legitimate debt collector and a fake one. Sometimes a fake collector may even have some of your personal information, like a bank account number. A caller may be a fake debt collector if he:
•is seeking payment on a debt for a loan you do not recognize;
•refuses to give you a mailing address or phone number;
•asks you for personal financial or sensitive information; or
•exerts high pressure to try to scare you into paying, such as threatening to have you arrested or to report you to a law enforcement agency.
If you think that a caller may be a fake debt collector:
•Ask the caller for his name, company, street address, and telephone number. Tell the caller that you refuse to discuss any debt until you get a written "validation notice." The notice must include the amount of the debt, the name of the creditor you owe, and your rights under the federal Fair Debt Collection Practices Act.
If a caller refuses to give you all of this information, do not pay! Paying a fake debt collector will not always make them go away. They may make up another debt to try to get more money from you.•Stop speaking with the caller. If you have the caller's address, send a letter demanding that the caller stop contacting you, and keep a copy for your files. By law, real debt collectors must stop calling you if you ask them to in writing.
•Do not give the caller personal financial or other sensitive information. Never give out or confirm personal financial or other sensitive information like your bank account, credit card, or Social Security number unless you know whom you're dealing with. Scam artists, like fake debt collectors, can use your information to commit identity theft – charging your existing credit cards, opening new credit card, checking, or savings accounts, writing fraudulent checks, or taking out loans in your name.
•Contact your creditor. If the debt is legitimate – but you think the collector may not be – contact your creditor about the calls. Share the information you have about the suspicious calls and find out who, if anyone, the creditor has authorized to collect the debt.
•Report the call. Contact the FTC and your state Attorney General's office with information about suspicious callers. Many states have their own debt collection laws in addition to the federal FDCPA. Your Attorney General's office can help you determine your rights under your state's law.
http://www.consumer.ftc.gov/articles/0258-fake-debt-collectors - Tiffany AlvaradoMy sister in law actually got a phone call first stating that my husband needed to call regarding a civil law suit against him. The lady left a reference number and this 866 number to have him call back. So I called and she said her name was Sarah Lewis and that she needed to get ahold of my husband because he was due to appear in court. I tried to get more information from her and she would not give me anything else she just wanted to talk to him. Funny thing is that we have never received anything by mail.

- Scum of the Earth| 1 replyA lady named Melissa Bennett left a message on my sister's home phone. With a five digit number to reference. Says she is going to deliver legal documents to my sister's house for me between 2pm and 4pm and her supervisor needs to witness this.....These people are stupid. They don't call you ahead of time if you are going to get served documents they just do it...and a witness??? That makes no damn sense. What scum! I have been dealing with calls from another number and company trying to pull the same thing saying I own a cash advance debt that I don't even owe....they are threatening to charge me with felonies...they said they want me to send money via Money Gram to take care of it. They said they have an affidavit in their office with my name and SSN on it. I do believe it's the same people. It seems like too much of a coincidence. Do not call them...it does no good. They will harass you even worse! If you ignore the calls they go away eventually. I've already had these calls before...last October. It's always the same story.

- Book lady replies to Scum of the EarthI received the same call saying her name was Melissa Bennett, gave me a five digit number, said legal papers would be delivered on Wednesday between 2-4 be at home or they'd come to my work and have my supervisor present to witness signing. Scary because I know I don't have a law suit or anything like that. Left the number 1-866-595-9450.

- Protective MomMy ten year old daughter is receiving numerous calls/messages from this number, threatening legal action, etc. etc. (same as other posters have reported). They say they are from JP Consultants. I called the number back and asked them to stop calling, that they were calling a minor who had no credit accounts or debt. The woman was extremely rude and said she called the wrong number. When I said I would report them to the FCC if they continued to harass my child, she said they would report me for calling them too (??) and hung up. I called back to make clear I was formally requesting that they cease any calls to my daughters number--another woman answered and was also rude and hung up. If they call again, I will report them to the FCC for harassment.

- kc| 1 replyJust got a call from a Maria Garcia about the same large civil lawsuit going to trial on Monday and that I needed to call IMMIEDIATLY in order to take care of this matter blah blah blah. Good luck with that! I'm not that stupid! I have my credit report and know exactly what and who I owe. They didn't even have my name lol. But it's the first time that it was someone who didn't sound like they were outsourced from a 3rd world country.

- ewthe number 1866-595-9450 called my phone stating the same as far as legal civil documents for a loan. The stated that they would be delivering these documents to me at home between the hours of 2-4. If I am not available they will try and attempt to do so at my job. FDF Legal service is the name that was left on my answering machine. The individual that I talked to was James Peterson. He was very rude and sarcastic and refused to let me speak to his supervisor. I am reporting this number to the FDC. No one has time to be playing around with these people. They can kick rocks!

- Amy| 2 repliesReceived a phone call today from an "unrestricted phone #-4009 came up on the caller ID- a VM was left- a woman or girl said that she was calling from FDS Courier Service and they have scheduled delivery to my place of residence between 2-4 PM tommorrow, and that I should be available to sign the legal documents; if not they will come to my place of employment and I will need an HR person or supervisor present to sign the documents? I have never heard of such a thing? I have never heard of FDS Courier Service; if I try to google them online-it looks like s service related to delivery in Ireland, and their name does not come up under the BBB website. Also, if I have any questions, I am suppose to call the "claimant" back at this phone number 1-866-595-9450. The woman or gal never said her name, or what company, account, etc. this was relating to.
How do these people know where I live and work when I have never heard of this phone number or courier service or received anything in the mail threatening legal action?
I am so tired of these types of calls.- Caller: ?

http://www.consumer.ftc.gov/articles/0258-fake-debt-collectors - Amy replies to AlfalfaI already know about the FTC rules regardig debt collection; in fact I reported an issue last month that I had with calls from all different area codes and phone numbers to my work#, cell#, and even a relatives home # whom I don't even live with for an extended period of time.. I was so tired of it all; never got any straight answers from the caller(s) of what business there were, company address, phone number etc. They would not give it out just wanted me to provide my personal information which I refused. Everytime I tried calling one of the phone numbers back I got a VM recording and then supposedly was transferred to a " representatives extension to leave a message". What a scam that is if no one answers the phone a few minutes after they call you. Finally, I left a message that I was reporting them to the FTC and the Attorney General's office in my state. That is exactly what I did; I logged the calls, the dates, saved the threateing recorded messages of them saying that they were taking me to court, and it all was turned into both of these places. The calls finally stopped, but who knows for how long.
I am just trying to alert people to calls from this phone number and what I have been told via a VM left from who knows.
Maybe, I will have to file complaint on this phone number as well. - Niya WiseI was contacted by this number and was advised by James Peters that he was calling from JP Consultants and he was in the process of having an officer sent to my home and work locations because I have an outstanding debt. I advised him the bill was paid a year ago and i have a paid in full letter to prove it. he gave me his fax number and email address to send it to him, which i did. He didn't call me to confirm it was received and after leaving numerous messages with his very rude staff he finally calls back to tell me the latter wasn't sufficient and i should have known this because it was written so poorly. He was very rude and advised he has nothing more to say this issue was already sent to my credit report.
What is so ironic is that he has no idea that I am a credit and collections specialist and I am VERY familiar with the process of collecting debts. Therefore, it is very easy to determine that he isn't a professional in this field and he just preys on innocent people.- Caller: JP Consultants

- KRA| 1 replyA lady left a message on my work phone stating that on Friday I will have papers delivered by a Paul Murray certification 626 CRW and I better make myself available. If not, then they will come to my work and require either a human resource rep or a supervisor to witness the drop off. That seems kind of odd that any random person needs to be a wittness....I thought that was the point of being served by someone with certifications? I was to contact 866-595-9450 for more information. The message was very odd. Some one must be desparate. I dont have any outstanding debt that would cause matters like this. Guess I will need to report them. I saw that in a previous comment they stated that they were FDS Courier, and they told me that they were SDF Courier...something's up.
- Caller: SDF Courier Service
- Elspeth replies to KRAThe something that's up, is they're scammers. Report the calls to the FTC and your state's Attorney General. If they call back, let them know that all calls to you are being recorded for your attorney. Bottom line - no proof you owe the debt = no debt owed.
- ElizabethJust received a call from a man who said his name was James Peters. The call came in as "private" (should have been my first clue). He stated he was a fraud investigator. He was asking for another person, when I told him that he had the wrong #, he insisted that I was this person. I kinda laughed told him I wasnt, then he asked for the same person using a different last name. When again I told him wrong #, he started saying he had access to all law enforcement computers, knows that this # is being paid for by this other woman, and that he was coming to my house in 35 minutes. I told come on by (he gave a totally different address than where I live). After that he really got beligerent, call me the "c" word, told me he was going to come and kill me, then he was also going to kill my children. Unfortunately I cant call dial the number back since it was private, but it sounds like the same man you other posters have dealt with.
