I got a call from this number and let it go to voice mail. The message said it was a company in Orlando wanting to see if I was willing to rent out or sell my timeshare that I'd unloaded four years ago. The caller left their name, number, extension, etc. and repeated it, so I think it's probably a legitimate call. I get one of these about my timeshare now and then. I assume their lists just must be outdated. I still consider it unsolicited though since I'm on the do not call list and I've had no prior relationship with this company!

Same story. Got called by a professional-sounding person who said Hilton Grand Vacations sold them their member list. Fraud.

Here's what it says on the Hilton site right now:

    "Owner Alert

From time to time, Hilton Grand Vacations becomes aware of unscrupulous third parties attempting to defraud timeshare owners.

Recently, we have been made aware of another disturbing trend in consumer fraud that we feel important to bring to your attention.

Specifically, a small number of Club Members have notified us that they have received calls from third party companies offering to "rent their points" or otherwise rent the Member's timeshare week. If the Member is interested, the caller then asks for a credit card.

Other Club Members have reported receiving calls inviting them to purchase a discounted vacation package in exchange for attending a sales presentation in Las Vegas falsely claiming that the offer is related to Hilton Grand Vacations or related RCI benefits.

Often these callers fraudulently claim to have a relationship with Hilton Grand Vacations, or claim to be calling from Hilton. Armed with a general awareness of the Hilton Grand Vacations Club program, these callers often offer appealing offers that sound legitimate.

Please know that Hilton Grand Vacations does not share your information with these third parties, nor does Hilton Grand Vacations approve or any way endorse these offers.

In fact, Hilton has implemented security measures to ensure your information is not available to third parties by encrypting not only your sensitive financial information, but recently to encrypt your phone number to prevent unauthorized access.

What should you do if you are contacted with an offer to rent or sell your timeshare?
Be Cautious. Legitimate resale and listing companies do not collect an up-front fee.

Gather Information. Gather specific information about the company calling you, including the name of the company, the full name of the individual, the number they are calling you from and the day and time of the call(s).

Know your rights. Often these companies are calling you in violation of do-not-call laws. If your number is on the do not call list and you have not done business with the calling company, you may have reason to file a complaint against the company with your state do-not-call regulatory agency and/or the FTC.

Check the Validity of the Offer. Also, you may call Hilton Grand Vacations at 1-800-932-4482 to confirm whether the offer is from Hilton Grand Vacations.

Report the Incident. If you have been contacted by a third party falsely claiming a relationship with Hilton or falsely claiming to have received information about you from Hilton, we want to know. You can report the incident by calling 1-800-932-4482."

Received a phone call about renting my Hilton Points.  Sounded very professional and legit.  Actually gave me a name of a legitimate company which I did look up at the Web Site.(Travel Hot List web:  www.timesharehotlist.com)  Called the number listed there and asked if they had such a number as was left with me to call back if interested.  They had no such number.  The person calling did want $2495. up front.
