I received a call from Adam Dahl and Associates today. They left a message stating I needed to call them today to prevent being served at my residence. My ex-husband received a call too, which is why I called them back. When I called back, they transferred me to someone named Franklin Parker and he said that he could request a stay be put on my account and I would receive an email to that effect and I could pay today to avoid going to court. I said I had no idea what this was about and he said it was for Discount Advances LLC, from 2016. There is no way I ever took out a payday loan. This has got to be all part of the same scam. I told him while on the phone, that Adam Dahl associates doesn't exist as a law firm and he said, well that's good that you didn't find us. We don't advertise so you wouldn't find us. Then he became really rude and said, fine, just go to court then.

I wonder if "Adam Dahl" is related to Roald Dahl (the British author) as their story is a fairy tale.

It is only good for them, if people knew where they were the authorities would be alerted and be able to shut them down.

Since this is a scam, there is no debt, you cannot be sued for something that does not exist and without filing a lawsuit you cannot be served.  They only say that in order to get you to call them (which you did) so they can lie to you and demand payment on a debt that does not exist (which they did).
Even if this was a real ~9 year old debt, it would be past the Statute of Limitations in most States and a debt collector would be barred from suing you.
What is the statute of limitations on debt?

You should block the number(s) they call from and ignore them.  Since you called them back, they will think of you as a likely potential victim and having your number (this is a toll-free number and Caller ID blocking does not work with those) will most likely call again trying to pressure you into paying them.  Tell your Ex and family members about the call, letting them know it is a scam in case they try to contact them.  One trick scammers like this use is to call family members, employers (present and past), telling them that you owe a debt (something that is illegal for a real debt collector to do) in an effort to embarrass you into calling them back and paying them to stop.

Got a call from the same number, a woman left a message stating there’s an open case for my sister. She left the case number and stated that today was the last day for her to get in contact with them. She left a case number and which county it was filed under. I searched for the case and to my surprise, nothing came up lol. I went ahead and called the 866 number and a man answered and went ahead and gave me the wrong birthdate. I told him why was my sister getting sent to court and he said he couldn’t tell me. Of course I knew this already since I know this is a total scam. I just went ahead and blocked the number.
