I got a letter from "Linebarger Goggan Blair & Simpson LLP" regarding expired license plates. The number they gave me was (866)-234-9790. It also says that they are in San Antonio Texas.

This company called a cell phone belonging to my 17-year-old son. The number on the caller ID was 717-236-7666. Linebarger Goggan Blair and Sampson had been harassing us via regular mail regarding a corporate bankruptcy issue in PA - apparently they bought an old discharged debt (company got a chapter 11 over 10 years ago) and are trying to collect on it now. When I returned their mail they decided to harrass our son. Screw them.

Same message but from this number: (877) 249-1658. I have not yet received anything on the mail, so until then, they will automatically continue to go to my voice mail.

    Mad of getting scammed!
Received this call today for my brother who does not live here, shortly after I had been scammed online for a work-at-home job claiming to be JC Penney. I thought it was legit and filled out a job application with his name as a reference. I got wise and reported them to JC Penny corporate and FBI interent website. I think this is connected to that scam. After reading the above comments, I know it's a scam but not sure it's connected to my previous scam.

These idiots have called me at work twice and when I call back they will not give me any information unless I give them my SSN. They think I am stupid. The lady got mad and tried to hang up on me. I told her it needs to stop and told her to f*** off and leave me alone. I hung up the phone. This better be the last call I get from them.

I don't think it's a scam; not in my case at least.  It was Linebarger, G, B &S, but it was a completely legitimate call (an old tax debt I'm clearing up).  They had previously sent a letter.  Asked for

You honestly should just verify the last four of your social because if we are contacting you, you do have an outstanding debt of some type. We will not give anyone your personal business because its your business and no one elses. We are not a scam. We are legitimate collectors and obviously people are upset because they let their debts get to this point. Pay your outstanding tickets, taxes, and other debts that will go to collections and you wouldnt have to worry about us contacting you.

I work for the company now. We are located in several different cities and one of which is San Antonio, Tx. We deal with kinds of outstanding debts. We have contracts with different counties and cities and every single debt that we are attempting to collect ON BEHALF OF THE COUNTY OR STATE IN QUESTION, has been sent to us via a file in our system. We verify your name, address, date of birth, sometimes ssn depending on what we have to make sure that we do have the correct individual and to make sure we do not divulge your personal debt to someone who should not be privy to that information. I really hate the fact that those of you who label us as "A SCAM" are probably the ones that cant pay or wont pay your tickets, court fees, taxes, red light tickets...etc, etc, and refuse your information because you know we found you and you are in the wrong. Bottom line, call the number back and verify your information and you will clearly see what we have outstanding for you and you can get it resolved. Its simple, you guys make it hard and I speak from experience since I have been there for many years. Get over the scam stuff and just take care of your business and you will never hear from our firm.

And you probably havent received anything in the mail because the address we have in the system is wrong so therefore, you will NEVER get a current letter. Call the office and update your information before you do end up having a bigger issue than just a phone call.

The ticket is for expired registration and you yourself would have physically been given the ticket by an officer. Pay your tickets. Simple.

Learn to call during business hours. We do not have a voicemail system to answer our calls when we are IN THE OFFICE. You obviously are hiding because you have a debt to pay.

And shame on you for speaking on something you havent fully researched. We do not GUESS on the information that we have in our system. We are given files via the computer from different cities and counties and some of you people lie when you are getting into trouble. I deal with it every day. People using other peoples names and information when they get pulled over so they can avoid arrest or a citation. YOU should be ashamed for bashing a company and you have absolutely NO CLUE as to what we deal with.

The reference number is the easiest way to find the account in our system. We assign one to every single account that is given to us. Its not a scam. Do your homework.

She is a real individual and its not a SCAM. Tell your husband to pay his outstanding debt and you wouldnt have an issue nor would he be in our system.

And we do not threaten anyone. The payments may come to our office but WHO do you make them payable to????  DUH, the county that you OWE in Florida. Sometimes I wonder how people make it day to day when they cant even read a letter sent to them in the mail and dont contact the county in question to find out whats going on.

The only way to get your number out of our system if you seriously do not have a debt outstanding is to ANSWER THE PHONE! Its simple people. Learn to call the number back and then you will know for sure if it belongs to you or not.

Return the call. Obviously when you gave that information to the county or city that you owe, it hasnt been updated since then and you are hiding. Take care of your business and you wouldnt have to worry why we contact the last known address or phone number. Some of you people hide really well and our only recourse is to contact a relative hoping to get the message to you before you are arrested, lose your license or worse.
