- ksPhone call at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday. Message left by automated system stating that the call was from OHSU and said there was an important message for me. I was instructed to call back and use my case number (or account number, or something) that was given. I called back several times during business hours and always got the message that the call could not be completed at this time.
- WeikeI got the exact the same call said it is from OHSU and when I called back several times during business hours, the call is just recycling all the time without any informative things.
- gcI too got the exact same msg. I held FOREVER for a representative and had to hang up. It did say "press 3 to leave a msg", but what message am I supposed to leave??.. that I'm returning their call and playing phone tag?? Lame.
- Caller: OHSU
- nqsame thing. When I called, it said it was "the business office" and put you on hold or you can leave a message. This is stupid.
- angryI also received a call from these people -- I was told that this was a very "serious business matter" and yes it did involve an "over due account balance", but until I gave the woman my social security # (yeah like that is gonna happen) she would not tell me what my "case number" was in reference to or how they received my home phone to contact me at. Note: She said that her facility is located in California -- hmm an Oregon Universtiy in California, but I live in Oregon hmmm and haven't ever been to OHSU for any services...yeah go figure. I hate these pathetic scams that the lower than low scum actually call your house thinking you are that stupid.

- hhI got a call on Oct. 13, 2009 saying there was a message for *my name* from Oregon Health & Science University Business Office. It said if I was *my name* to press 1 to confirm, and then it said to hold for a representative. I was connected to someone that did not seem to know why I was calling. When I explained what the message had said she asked me to verify my DOB and Address. I stupidly did this, and then she said something about a grant payment and it must have been cleared up and sorry for the inconvenience. I feel really stupid having fell for this. I used to work at OHSU and also go to the doctor there regularly so I was not surprised by the call. I also knew that I have a bill I haven't paid so I initially assumed the call was about that. Also the voice on the automated message was the same voice from other messages at OHSU so it seemed familiar. Luckily I did not give out my SSN but I'm still worried about the information I did give.

- Brittany| 1 replyI got the same message. What is strange is I work for OHSU and know they will never ask for your SS#. They do not even keep thos things in your chart anymore. My guess is that this is a scam to see if it is a working number and to get a correct name to go with it. As far as I know we don't have a "business office". If we did it would start with 503-494-xxxx or 503-498-xxxx.
- JessicaI work for OHSU too and I've never heard of anyone from any department leaving an automated message like this. Of course I've always paid for everything up front so I've never had past due bills...It seems really off
- Caller: OHSU
- SarahMy parents in another state received a message on their answering machine from this number claiming to be the "OHSU Business Office", asking for me to call back and refer to a case number. I called after hours and received a recording stating it was the OHSU business office, and to call back during business hours. I work at OHSU, and a quick search of the employee and public internet sites did not reveal a "business office." Searching the internet this number appears to be associated with a company called Global Crossing, a huge telecommunications firm located in Bermuda with admin headquarters in New Jersey. It's a scam.
- Caller: OHSU/Global Crossing
- RyanIt isn't a scam, it is a call from OHSU's autopay system. I called OHSU's business office on the 503 number listed on their website and used the reference number i got in a voice mail from the 866 number. It was in their system, they were calling me to let me know my monthly payment was increasing due to added costs of another a surgery. Just call the business office phone off of OHSU's website and they can verify it.

- pdxmomI can confirm that these calls are from a third-party company that helps OHSU with billing. The confusion is that there are different groups at the hospital that do their billing separately. I've been paying physical therapy co-pays at the office and then occasionally receiving refund checks that gave me the co-pay payments back. My OHSU Mychart balance is zero, but in a *different* system, I was accruing a balance. Apparently, the people at the Women's Health desk can't see the balance in this other system and don't always route the payments correctly.
I called the local number listed on the web site (http://www.ohsu.edu/xd/health/for-patients-vi ... -your-bills.cfm) and then gave my credit card information there. This is a completely ridiculous and inefficient system, but there it is. Make sure to ask for a supervisor and complain when you call to make your payment.- Call type: Debt collector
- ForrestThey called today an left this number to call back. When I called back, they put me on hold. I eventually hung up.
"You have reached our business office. Our customer service representatives are not available at this time . . . <click>"
This is apparently the response I get to certified letter contesting $5,000 in charges due to an unnecessary procedure. Their billing procedures are badly messed up. - Marshall replies to BrittanyThe only part of this post that is true is about the phone number potentially starting with 494 (498 is NOT an OHSU prefix, but 418 is). Everything else is completely incorrect at this time. I currently work with Outpatient Registration, and have since 2009, and we always ask for a patient's SSN when registering and then only the last four to verify at later dates. We do indeed have a business office, and this number does belong to it.
- pistThe whole thing is so rediculous and a waste of time.. there is no supervisor, they just pass it to the next service person that can't answer any questions...
