- AaronI received a phone call two days in a row asking me to call this number. The message was automated. After the second call, I looked up the number and saw it was through BMO/Bank of the West. I have multiple account through there, so decided to call. Turns out I was behind on my credit card payment without realizing.
If it's an automated message asking you to call the number, you are probably safe, just proceed with caution. If it is someone on the other end immediately, it is likely a scam.- Caller: BMO/Bank of the West

- Shawn replies to ToniI have letters from BMO with their name and address on it with my account number. They call like crazy to get payments but then can not do their jobs correctly even when payment is made. They are Garbage!
- BusterApparently this number has called me multiple times per day for the past several days, but has been marked as suspected spam by either my phone app or carrier, so there were no notifications. I've only become aware of this now. The number they have called is one I've had for a few years, but have never given out. Ever. I always forward calls through a Google voice number. There is no reason for this number to be calling me if it's a 'legitimate' business. Consequently, it is definitely either a scam using a spoofed number, or the business that owns the number doesn't confirm a contact before spamming them with calls, either way they are now hard blocked.
- StephanieAutomated call from "BMO" that states: "Please call BMO at 866-6180-8686 for an important matter. Our hours of operations are from .......(given in Central Time) again, please call BMO at 866-618-8686 for an important matter." I have been receiving 1 call a day since January 3,2024. I have not called this number back. Initially I went to BMO website and got bounced around 5 times with no one able to give me a straight answer, then the last person suggested I call a local branch. I looked up my nearest branch, called, and spoke to a banking manager. The manager confirmed I do not have any bank accounts, loans, or credit cards, etc. with BMO. Additionally, they and their team looked up the number and said they believe this is a phishing attempt and too ignore it.

- SMALL BUSINEESSOur small business justs received a call with the same recordingof call us back at 866-618-8686. Caller id just said bmo. Called the number, none of the prompts sounded right for our business, so pressed 3 or the "other" option. After a few minutes i was transferred to a woman with a very thick indian accent. When i stated we are a business and wanted to know why they are calling us, suddenly she started saying she couldn't hear me because the line was poor, and continued to break up. We supply oxygen, and receive many calls from out of area, as our patients do travel, and may need assistance with their equipment. An outsourced call center calling businesses...Ridiculous.

- Another oneI received the same call and voicemail three or four days in a row. I called it, a person eventually answered after I didn't select any of the "options." A person immediaitely asked for either and account number or social security. I told them that it seemed like a scam and huing up. She did answer the phone and started with, "thank you for calling BMO, this call is recording for quality purposes..." to try to make it sound legitmate.

- anonymous replies to mamacitascccThis is not for real. I contacted my banker at Harris and was told they don't make calls like this. After receiving the msg I called back and the first thing the guy wanted was my social security number. I said absolutely not. He then said they were calling to remind me to pay my bill.
