- angalcina replies to WhateverI just got a call from this number, they did not leave a message, so I typed it in on line and this thread came up. I immediately called citi bank, and they said that this is NOT, I repeat NOT a legitimate number that the only number that represents their orginisation is the one on the back of the card, and that I should call the police, and lay a report. The police I have just been here and I have placed a report.
- k replies to Suspicious: Part 2I just recieved a call today and hung up when they asked for my zip code. They were very sneaky because rather than hang up straight away I selected the option to take a message which said to call citi cards help line. I called the number on the back of my card and they had no alerts. This number is not listed on the citi-cards website anywhere.
- Billy B| 1 replyI leave all 866 and 800 numbers go to voice mail and usually check this site to see what it is. They left a voice mail and it was an automated message from 'Citigroup fruad alert' asking me to activate my new card that was just sent by using the number on my replacement card. Sounds legit since they never asked me to call back the number.
It is possible it could be a fraud where they every other one is this message so people like me say it's a good number. Who knows. Just giving my experience.- Caller: unknown
- WP replies to Billy BNo CC company will ever give you a number to call. They will alaways tell you to call the number on the back of the card. This is defeitely bogus. I called CITI first and they said
1. They never caled
2. That number was not thier number
3. Everything on my account was fine - foxbat replies to Al1-866-623-9354 is a FAKE citi phone number. They want to steal your ID.
I have reported it to FBI. I hope FBI will do something.
Is there any way to find out where these suckers are? - TBB| 1 replyI think this number is real. They called and left a recorded vmail saying that I hadn't yet called to activate my new card (which is true - I keep forgetting). The message directed me to call the number on the new card or 800-950-5114 (I called Citibank, who verified that this is actually a real Citibank number).
That said, I definitely wouldn't give out my SSN or password to some random person who called me.- Caller: Citibank/Citicard
- Matt replies to TBBI also received a call on 6/25 that said the new cards I had been sent had not been activated yet. As I recall, there were prompts to either activate the cards, or verify that I had not received the cards. I chose another prompt to speak to an operator, and told her I wasn't sure whether I had received them or not since I was at work. She said once I got home and checked, to call them back at the number on my old card if I hadn't received the new cards and they would resend them. I got home, dug through the mail and found an envelope with my new cards inside.
This one seems to be legit. - John| 1 replyI got this call just now. No way am I falling for this gag. I immediately ran the number (1-866-623-9354) & BINGO this site shows up. Poor victims (elderly) get stuck with scam. Sad
- Caller: unavailable
- mememesociety replies to JohnYep - fraud. Don't answer the call or give out info. I just called Citi about the messages. I was notified a month ago that one of their merchants had been breached, which required the issuance of new cards. These calls must be from the idiots that hacked the system.
- FL-RonApproximately (10) days earlier, Citicards sent me replacement VISA cards because (again) a clueless merchant had inadequate website security. Hackers were able to break into the merchant's system and "compromised" several thousand card numbers with names. CitiBank provided the replacement cards and gave me (3) weeks to call and activate the new cards. After (2) weeks...and not hearing from me, Citicard began to call from a toll free number (866-623-9354). Yes, the beginning of the call is an automated message concerning a "fraud alert", but after about 30 seconds, it rolls over to a live person. That person asked (4) questions... (a) Did you receive the replacement cards? (b) Verify how many cards were received...I gave them an incorrect qty on purpose...and then they asked if there were more than that # of cards received and I gave them another qty (which was correct. (d) final question....what is the account password....I said that I need a hint, and they gave me the correct hint.
Bottom line...the call was from Citicards, and it was legitimate. I can't blame Citicards as they were verifying that I did receive the replacement cards. How do I know it was Citibank...I purposely gave wrong answers so they would challenge me on the repies, and I asked them for a "hint" on the password.- Call type: Unwanted
- annoyed replies to AlI agree. I tried to call this number and the call did not go through so I called the main Citi Cards number and they had no record of a call made to me for any reason.
BEWARE OF SCAMMERS! - AndJust got the automated call. Hung up, called the number on the back of my card and they said my account didn't have any problems. So i called the number on my cel phone (the 1-866-623-9354 number) and someone immediately answered...no PRESS # automated start. Although it was nice to skip all the button pushing, no company does that anymore. When she asked for my credit card number the second time i said i wouldn't give it out because i didn't know if she was the scammer. Told her I would call the number on the back of the card.

- indeedDid not answer call - voicemail said they were the Citi Fraud Early Warning department saying that my account number was changed and they had not heard from me since my new card was sent, both true statements. My acct # changed a few months ago; I haven't activated the card because I don't use it much anymore.
- LF replies to AlThis should be reported to the FTC. I just reported it myself.
- Call from same numberThis number is legitimate. They called about a fraud alert, and there was in fact a breach of my card's security. Everything relayed in the message was legitimate.
- mad maryWhen I signed up for "DO NOT CALL," it was because I do not want your unsolicited
calls on my home phone OR on my cell. Please stop!- Caller: Texas Debt Relief

- llkcba123JUST got this same call - hung up and immediately called the number on the back of my Citi Card. The lady I spoke with said they had had several reports on this number and IT IS A SCAM! Citi never asks for personal or account info over an automated call. Don't believe anyone on this post who says it legit - if in doubt call your card holder before giving any info.
- cabinetsthis number called our business today. said they were from citigroup trying to obtain our info. we don't even have a citigroup card. this is definitely a scam people!
