Called and said I had a legal document left an unreachable number

Yeah I had the same call

Called referencing a file number under a last name I never had then they called my sons phone leaving the same message.  A got a call like this a couple months ago for my sister with the exact same thing. These scammers call saying they have a reference number and to contact "The Firm" with that file number.  I was pissed off when they called me wanting info on my sister. I told them NEVER EVER call me again!!!  They threaten to "Sue you & and you are being served". Even though you have never received any paperwork about this at all.

Don't fall for thier trap!!! They call from an Unknown number!!  So you can't block thier calls.  It's ridiculous with these scammers getting your private info and calling other family members and breach your private info so when you have family who aren't aware of these scam calls they think you are in trouble when you aren't!!

Received several calls yesterday from a blocked id.  When I didn't answer they called my wife and left this call back number and case number.  When I called they said they were with KSG, based in Las Vegas but with satellite offices throughout the U.S.  The lady I spoke to said that I had an unpaid credit card debt from the late 90's (I wasn't old enough to have a credit card at that time).  She said they were trying to reach me to schedule a time to serve papers about a civil suit.  I asked her if a hearing date had been scheduled, and she said that the suit had not actually been filed, but that if I scheduled a time for documents delivery it would include a form I could use to contest the debt.  She also said that they were investigating if I was employed and if I owned property so that they could file for garnishment or a lien.

Here are reasons I think this is a scam, or at least a dishonest debt collection effort:

- Searching for KSG Las Vegas returns zero results associated with a law firm or debt collection firm.  The closest I could find is a real estate agency.
- The debt is pretty clearly not mine.  I did not have a credit card in my own name until 2005.
- The vague warnings about a civil suit, but the agent could not tell me a hearing date, court docket number, or even court district where the suit would be filed.

The person I spoke to did not try to set up payment arrangements, and said that this was not a direct effort to collect payment.  I think this was a "phishing" expedition - trying to see what kind of personal information they could find.

If a civil suit is actually filed (I doubt very much), I look forward to attending the hearing to request proof that this debt is mine.
