- paul borgi got this first time
- MarioMe too. One ring and they hung up
- twothirtyThey just called here too. No message on my machine. 100% guaranteed that it was a BS call though, given the number.
- BillThree calls in 2 days- no message left.
- MonaI also got a call from this number. How are these people get our number ? We have been getting quite a few of this type of call. We are on the "do not call list".
- MCThey have called me four times in the past two days, one time the number appeared as +86 663-37731 (literally just now and then they called immediately after from the 866 number). They haven't left a message and don't seem to wait until the phone even goes to the answering machine. Super curious to know what this is about but this appears to be a new campaign/scam/number and there isn't much information online.
- KLGotten 3 calls in 2 days & 2 of those in the past 90 minutes. We send it straight to vm but they never leave a msg. Curious as to what scam this one is!?!
- SWJust called the number back as I've seen 3 calls on my display from this number in the past 2 hrs. The automated message said 'you've reached the central polling centre' or something along those lines. With the election in Ontario & so many people being undecided I guess they are trying to figure out who people are voting for this Thursday. Annoying to say the least!
- RM| 1 replyWe haved been called several times from this number. How do we stop these calls.
- Slim replies to RMWhat options does one have to defend themselves against intrusive callers?
• The Do Not Call list (Federal or State)
Works, but is effective against ONLY "legitimate" telemarketers. Political callers, surveys and some other callers are exempt. Scammers ignore the DNC list.
• Shouting, screaming, swearing at the caller
Nope. Does not stop calls. May make you hoarse, and will disturb nearby people.
• Call blocker app, device or service
Could be a good choice (even though the scammers can use fake phone numbers), and some apps are free!
Google "call blocker" for more information, or check your favorite online sales site for a list.

* Your phone provider may also offer blocking services. Check their web page for information.
If you cannot use any of the above defenses, then:
• Do not answer calls from unknown numbers ... let them go to voicemail or answering service
• Do NOT return calls from unknown numbers! All that does is verify your phone number! And, in some cases, those return calls may cost $20 or more to complete.

• If you have a "dumb" cell phone, assign the scammer's number to a group named "scammers" (or similar). Then, assign a silent ringtone to that group.
