- Caller: Arnold scott harris P.c.
- Slim replies to Darlene Woelffer| 1 replyA phone call, email or text message from a supposed debt collector is not legally sufficient evidence of debt.
The Fair Debt Collection Practices Act (FDCPA) includes statements such as this:
* Every collector must send you a written “validation notice” telling you how much money you owe within five days after they first contact you. This notice also must include the name of the creditor to whom you owe the money, and how to proceed if you don’t think you owe the money. ["Written" means snailmailed - US Mail ... not emailed or texted]

Therefore, if that caller wants you to pay immediately, before you get the written validation notice via snailmail, or if the caller wants payment via green dot, Western Union, or other untraceable means, then the call is definitely not legitimate.
IF you wish to communicate with the supposed collector / creditor, visit the following page, for example "Action Letters" to snailmail:

If you KNOW you owe no money, or believe the call was from a fake debt collector, please take the time to read this:
http://www.consumer.ftc.gov/articles/0258-fake-debt-collectors - CWG40 replies to Darlene Woelffer| 1 replyA lot of complaints about this outfit. They employ attorneys but they are not a law firm. They are a debt collection firm. At least so far as I can see. They seem to specialize in collection for local governments and medical service groups.

If someone calls you on the phone and wants you to pay some sort of debt, always demand a debt validation letter be sent to you by US mail. E-mail no good. Don't even consider paying ONE DIME, without a debt validation letter. - Darlene replies to SlimThank you so much for all the information that was sent on debt collectors. I think this is obviously a scam debt collector. My son had paid a ticket in 1998, and they are contacting, by calling everyday. Now just receive a bill in the mail.

- Darlene replies to CWG40Yes, it sounds like they are misrepresenting them selves. I think that the constant calling, everyday for a month, by a recording, means something. Now the bill came, and says use your tax return wisely? To pay the debt. Maybe they won't call anymore. I am on the National do not call list.
- Darlene replies to CWG40The number they give is 866-635-3795. It show it does not belong to anyone?
