- TS replies to janice| 1 replyThey are calling my family and relatives. You are served!. They said that they will serve a paper to my home or at work. Last time I told them to come over serve the paper because they have my address at work and for home. They just want to harrass and treaten; anyway to get money for a commission.
- Kimberly W.Calling me, spouse, grown child, neighbor, old employer and friends. Wants money or they will issue a warrant for a cold check. Harassment beyond belief. I don't have any cold checks and they are calling from outside my state. This is getting ridiculous. How do I stop the scam?!

- Hey ya| 1 replyFraud. Reported them to the FTC. I urge anyone else that gets one of these calls to do the same.
- STOPThey keep calling and saying the same thing over and over. You've been officially notified. Ok, well then, bring the papers like you say you are going to do so. They called 3 weeks ago and said they were coming. They still haven't shown up. They say all kinds of things to scare you into paying them money. It's getting ridiculous!

- What?!?!Message on my voice mail stating a name, case number of a person who is being served over the phone with a summons. the caller left her name said that this message is regarding a complaint and summons for ............... to call 1-866-635=3105 for last chance to resolve this matter. Very bazaar! Who leave that kind of information on ones phone if they are not even sure they reached the person? Decided to look the number up which led me to this site. Another hoax to get information.
- Call type: Debt collector
- TiredThey also called me from a blocked number and left a message with phone number and reference number. This has happened before to me and I'm tired of it. They also told me "I've been notified". Notified of what? That you are harassing me? You are not getting a dime from me!

- VCMJust got three calls from a "restricted number" from somone named Ryan Franklin with the exact same message as everyone else left a case number of 222177 and tried to state that I have been notified and this my last change to contact the creditor or they will serve me at my home or place of work. I would love to see them in Court. I am filing a formal complaint with the California Attorney Generals office and urge everyone else to do so as well. It is illegal to threat a lawsuit when trying to collect a debt.

- StrangeI received a phone call from a guy named Levi Page seeking information about a supposed court case against my daughter and the State of Montana. I knew from the state case numbers that it was a fraud. I have alerted other family members that they may be called, too, and to hang up. I was able to reach a guy named Jason at the number and the minute he started talking his answers confirmed it was a fraud. I was a paralegal for almost 25 years. Levi said he was a process server and that my daughter had been served because of his contact with me. That's not the way it works folks. We don't even live in the same town or in the same state jurisdiction. What an idiot. He provided me with no information about the case. If a case is filed, it becomes public record. Confiidentiality flies out the window.

- W.T.| 1 replyI got a call from this number today. "Josh Ryan" said he got a formal complaint "faxed" to his office today and this is my one and only chance to resolve the matter on my own, left the 866 number and a case number and said "I have officially been notified". Being that I am not a dummy, I googled the number and found many other people who got a similar call. They have already contacted my mother in law. I heard they pretty much will contact anyone you are linked to so I have warned the rest of my family. Seriuosly, why don't these scammers get a real job like the rest of us.

- Stressed!| 2 repliesI also got this call and threats from a Derrick Andrews at "RH GROUP". They claim to be an arbitration firm and I need to pay 400 more dollars than what I actually owe. Are these people for real? Can you actually be arrested for this crap? This loan is 5 years old! I could not get an address out of him, or "Andy" the payment dude. They would not send me a debt validation letter either. Am I being totally scammed here? They claimed to have recorded me about the so called payment arrangement! Help!

- Alfalfa replies to Stressed!| 1 replyThe Federal Trade Commission (FTC), the nation's consumer protection agency, is warning consumers to be on the alert for scam artists posing as debt collectors. It may be hard to tell the difference between a legitimate debt collector and a fake one. Sometimes a fake collector may even have some of your personal information, like a bank account number. A caller may be a fake debt collector if he:
•is seeking payment on a debt for a loan you do not recognize;
•refuses to give you a mailing address or phone number;
•asks you for personal financial or sensitive information; or
•exerts high pressure to try to scare you into paying, such as threatening to have you arrested or to report you to a law enforcement agency.
If you think that a caller may be a fake debt collector:
•Ask the caller for his name, company, street address, and telephone number. Tell the caller that you refuse to discuss any debt until you get a written "validation notice." The notice must include the amount of the debt, the name of the creditor you owe, and your rights under the federal Fair Debt Collection Practices Act.
If a caller refuses to give you all of this information, do not pay! Paying a fake debt collector will not always make them go away. They may make up another debt to try to get more money from you.•Stop speaking with the caller. If you have the caller's address, send a letter demanding that the caller stop contacting you, and keep a copy for your files. By law, real debt collectors must stop calling you if you ask them to in writing.
•Do not give the caller personal financial or other sensitive information. Never give out or confirm personal financial or other sensitive information like your bank account, credit card, or Social Security number unless you know whom you're dealing with. Scam artists, like fake debt collectors, can use your information to commit identity theft – charging your existing credit cards, opening new credit card, checking, or savings accounts, writing fraudulent checks, or taking out loans in your name.
•Contact your creditor. If the debt is legitimate – but you think the collector may not be – contact your creditor about the calls. Share the information you have about the suspicious calls and find out who, if anyone, the creditor has authorized to collect the debt.
•Report the call. Contact the FTC and your state Attorney General's office with information about suspicious callers. Many states have their own debt collection laws in addition to the federal FDCPA. Your Attorney General's office can help you determine your rights under your state's law.
http://www.consumer.ftc.gov/articles/0258-fake-debt-collectors - Stressed replies to AlfalfaI recognize the debt and I was able to track it from the original lender to 2 other collectors, but this isn't one of them. But since I couldn't get the address from 2 of the people I talked to, I'm starting to think this is a scam.
Thanks - Anonym replies to Hey yaThank You! I've reported them to the FTC.
