Received a text message from Wescom Credit Union saying my debit card had been blocked and to call this number to reactivate.

I do not have anything to do with Wescom CU. This is a SCAM. Do not give out any info to anyone. No bank or Credit Union would ask for info like this by text message or phone.

    SCAM SCAM SCAM!!!

I got the same text message too.  The interesting part is that I don't have a debit card with that number.  Further investigation showed that it is a scam.  It's time to scam the scammers...

So I called sprint and they said they were aware of the scam and their remedy to the problem was "delete the text message".  BRILLIANT!  I told them I googled the phone number and found this forum where everyone who got the text message is a sprint user, then asked how is it that all sprint users got this scam text.  She then said "sprint corporate is aware of the issue and has not found the starting point."  She then told me that I can text message 9999 and type "block (then the phone number) and that would block that phone number from texting me again.  Still did not explain how a scam got my number along with numerous others.  I feel sorry for anyone who actually sends in info.  I would look at Sprint for that mistake, they obviously sold our phone numbers to someone who is scamming.

    damn scammers!

alright so I got this txt a few days ago...already knowing what a scam looks like and smells like... On top of that.. knowing I have no business with wescom... I knew it wasn't real.  My dad just got the same txt... now its not under a number... this one is sent via email from... xxnifz@wescom.org... Your 4306-65xx-xxxx-xxxx Debit Card has been Blocked.
    Call 888-287-5129 to reactivate it.

Honestly... your phone numbers arent hidden or unlisted like land lines... though nor are they listed... so there's only one good way to track it down... find all sprint employee's that have the access the full complete phone number's of all Sprint Clients... and then search their computers to find out who made the recent and/or largest printing fest in the last week or so...   That's what I would do.

Has anyone actually called the number yet?... is it really a scam or just some BS number to make you call and there's nothing really there? you know.... More or less what I'm saying is its probably just some shmuck playing a game on ppl.

Anytime... and always google the stuff your not to sure about... sure enough someone else has the same problem some where else.

Now the real question comes with like this... How the hell do we scam the scammers... cuz honestly.. I'd truely love that.

I also got this message last night, also a Sprint customer, but I was a little concerned at one point because I do have a Wescom account and those are the first 6 digits of my debit card.  However, I'm sure it's the first 6 digits of a lot of people's cards, so I had a feeling right there it was a scam.  Glad to see other people are on the same page and both companies know about it.
