Wow, it's not wonder most of you have service with this company, most of you are so dumb that you are demanding refunds from a thread that's totally unrealted to the actual company itself.

You people need to educate yourselves.

Yes, I have been charged for this service even though I did not subscribe.  I also attempted to have them STOP, but as yet, I keep getting their text.  So far my bill is 2.00 each time they call.

I did not solicit any IQ, trivia or similar text messaging and have been charged for Short Program Events on my bill for several months.  As I do sometimes go over my minutes I did not question what "short code program events" was in my billing process.  To my detriment, my procrastination has resulted in further charges this month in excess of $100.00 for 37 events.  I did call BELL and they explained the nature of the premium text service - known as short code program events.  I do not text message (I much prefer the old fashioned method of communicating with friends, family and clients - talking) and historically have asked for the service to be removed from my phone.  As this was the case, BELL did comply with my request and are reimbursing my account.  I do however take exception to the vague nature of the billing process.  At no time, except through personal contact with BELL customer service, was it explained what a "short code program event" charge was.  This is a serious issue with the cell service provider.  A consumer has no way of tracking what is being charged under this heading unless a request is made for the provider to research the charges and even then it takes considerable to time for the research to be done.  Third party billing to cell phones constitutes a form of fraud since anyone can apparently place charges to anyone else's cell phone whether permission has been granted or not.  Parents who have indicated here that their children have been charged for services, yet are underage to do so, have an obligation to band together to charge the regulatory body of the Canadian Telecommunications Industry, the Canadian Radio-television and Telecommunications Commission, with overhauling the system so that these types of scams can no longer be perpetrated with impunity.  Canadians are too passive and too forgiving - economies are not favourable at this time and we need every last penny to get by - so take a stand and lodge a complaint about this situation through the Commissioner for Complaints for Telecommunications Services info@ccts-cprst.ca or go through the online form at http://www.crtc.gc.ca/RapidsCCM/Register.asp?lang=E and make your case known.

Lloyd and others who are saying that the phone companies are making money through this...GET THE FACTS!
Your carreir has nothing to do with this, it is done by outside companies.
Your phone carrier cannot unsubscribe you and they are not responsible for SMS short codes you subscribe to>
Get the facts before you waste your time bitching at your carrier.

I am a Telus mobile subscriber and have been receiving text messages from this company even though they sent me an email confirming that I been unsubscribed.  Telus very kindly credited all of their charges and even offerred to contact them for me.  We also disabled my text messaging for a few days in order to interupt their messages being sent to me.

I just finished talking to a skill2thrill.com customer service agent, who was very helpful by the way, and he indicated that if an email is sent to info@textchallenge.com stating the details, they will refund my money.

    Re: text messages from 77277

It turns out they are unwilling to listen to reason so  I will be reporting them to the Canadian Wireless Telecommunications Association (CWTA), which is the association of cell phone service providers in Canada. They are also the ones who administer the short codes (4 to 5 digit numbers) provided to the companies allowing them to send premium text messages (http://www.txt.ca/current_codes.htm). They have a Code of Conduct which when not respected can lead to the suspension of the short code. If the premium text messages don’t stop after your sending of the “STOP” message, or if you explain to them that you have never subscribe to a premium text message service. Here is their website: http://www.cwta.ca/CWTASite/english/index.html?

Sadly,  I was also suckered by this scam but in hindsight, their webpages do not explain the charges that will follow until AFTER you have entered your phone number.  You can reach MEDIA SERVICES or (short code 77277) by sending an email to ca@txt-support.com and complaining, which will likely not be very satisfying.

Also, you can send a complaint to the government's communication regulatory body (in Canada it's info@cwta.ca for the Canadian Wireless Telecommunications Association) and if enough complaints are filed, they could suspend their short code privileges.

So, even if it's only $20 - do it (I just did).  These people are making millions by scamming innocent people, hoping that they will not complain.

I was receiving these messages and delelting them as I do not text - until I saw my bill for $30 extra dollars.

I called the company and cancelled immediatly, and demanded they pay me back, and they refusd. Thye did say they would stop sending me anymore, and I would recieve a message on my phone to that extent, but that message was never sent by them or recieved on my phone.

I undersatnd that the phone company shares the wealth here as well, so that needs to be addressed as well. They already charge way too much!

I requested fido to block premium text yesterday. A representitive responded that they were not able to block only premium text but they could block the whole text service. I think as a service provider, fido failed its service. Fido doesn't have technique to block premium text; however, it is happy to charge its customers ($2 per receiving message). Oh, Fido obviously benefits from this scam by getting money from its customers. This is how Fido protects its customers?

My underage child has subscribed to the service.
We understand this is an unpleasant situation. To unsubscribe your child from the service directly, please see How do I unsubscribe from the service?
Our website clearly states that, in order to participate, users must be 16 years or older and/or have account holder's permission. We are not liable for subscriptions of minors without parental approval.
I extracted the above wordings from skill2thrill.com. If selling alcohol and cigaretet to minor is against law, skill2thrill.com can not be liable for subscriptions of minors without parental approval?  What does skill2thrill.com do to ensure users are 16 years or older and/or have account holder's permission.
