Said they were Citi Client First then they were calling for the City of Dallas.  What????  Having never been to Dallas why would they call me?

  I do NOT owe any debts.  Why are they calling me?  The computerized message asked me to pay my debt.  A person by the name of Jose Valero has been using my phone number.  She gave it to debt collectors.  I have been receiving such calls.  This needs to stop.

Legit for me.  I had forgotten to pay my shell gas card bill (thought I sent in payment, oops) for the past two months.

This is definitely a SCAM. Do not give your personal information or ANY account information over the phone. If you believe you could be late paying any of your accounts, check with all your accounts, DIRECT, prior to calling and giving out your personal information or account information. If they contact me again, I will file a lawsuit and then we shall see how legitimate they are. Thank You for calling me, I will be waiting for your call.

I've received a couple of phone calls from 816-4204632. It's an automated message urging me to call 866-680-8628 about my Citibank account. I called Citibank's regular customer service phone number and was told that there were no notifications on my accounts and that this phone number is not from Citibank.

I have received three calls from (816) 420-4632 today in four hours (the second time they left a voicemail stating, "This is Citibank we need you to call us at (866) 680-8628." After that voicemail and seeing this forum, I messaged Citibank to see if this was them, they messaged me back stating they (Citi) looked at the notes on my account and they had not called me today - it was indeed a fraudulent call. As I was reading that very message, (816) 420-4632 called the third time; I answered and told them, "This is not Citi! I'm looking at a message from them now; this is a fraudulent call!" She of course went on to protest and say it was Citi. I blocked their number, hopefully that will solve the problem. I will also contact the FTC per Citi's advice.

This is a Scam, I called Citi from my app and they clearly stated there is no issue with my account and said the people calling are not Citi.  Call Citi from the back of your credit card or the app to confirm if there is an issue, do not call back on the 866-680-8628 number.

I keep getting calls from 866-680-8628 claiming they're calling from Citi regarding my credit card account.  I never had any kind of account with Citi, so this is obviously some sort of scam

Was receiving 3-4 calls a day. If I picked up the recorded message just kept on. Finally left the call-back number 866-680-8628. Voice mail wanted an account number so I hit "O" and got a rep. When I told her that 1. I had no account of any kind with CitiBank; 2. I have no cc debt (my balances are paid in full each month); and 3. I had already filed a complaint with the  FCC as I believe this is a scam - they are simply looking for info they can use- the rep informed me that they are a "bank". Not a debt collection agency or a telemarketer but a bank! I replied that if they are a bank then I am the Federal Reserve. She wanted my phone number so I could be removed from their call list. Since they already had the number I gave it to her in the hopes that this might end these annoying calls. Does this sound like a legitimate debt collector? Just give them your number and they will stop calling? The good news is that so far today I haven't received any calls.

Got a call saying there was a problem with my CitiCard...The number they called me on is not even listed in my contact information for Citi...I would definitely say this is a scam...

Let me guess. Youre drowning in debt with citi credit cards which is why you believe its a scam. LOL we deal with you guys everyday, the calls will continue.

They called my cell phone and said my Citi card was past due.  (I do have a Citi Card, but it is NOT past due.  Citi also only has my land line number, not my cell.)  She then tried to get me to pay over the phone.   I told her my account was up to date. She again tried to get me to pay over the phone.  Then she told me to call Citi at 866-680-8628.   I have no idea where she got my cell number.  SCAMMERS!

I've been receiving several emails at home, my cell phone, and at work lately from 816-420-4632.  When they *do* leave a message, they say they are from Citi Client First and that I have a problem with my Citi accounts. They say that this is not a Sales Call and that any agent will be able to assist me.  He then leaves a different number to call: 866-680-8628.

I've checked my Citi account and both are paid up until next month.

They said I missed a payment.

Jess, they aren't always calling to attempt to collect a debt.  I just got a call from a different number with a message to call this number back.  I called the customer service number on the card.  I just put a new piece of equipment on this card which took it over the limit.  That is the only reason they called.  All of my accounts are in good standing and are paid on time.  Your assumption that the only time the company calls is an attempt to collect a debt is insulting to me, other consumers, and citi group. And calling a person lazy online does not show good customer service or that you are someone that should be in this line of work!

Reading the posts, I'm totally confused.  Is it or is it not a scam?  Both numbers keep calling.  One leaves a message that it is important I call back.  NOT.  Looked up number and it's a "private" number.  I say scam.

Collections company. Not a scam but scum bags just the same. The keep calling you forever and ever.....even if you pay off the debt their automated dialer is not updated regularly to put it kindly.

Deceptive call tactics calling those who are associated, listed as alternate contact number, or wrong number. Disguised as "reminder" calls. Disguised as an associated debt collector calling as the client.
