I got a call from a phone number 1-866-681-1772 and on the other end of the phone was crackling noise....nothing major.  I answered to which I normally don't do, but as I was expecting a call, I just answered.  No one answered back, nothing.  No idea.

apparently it's a law firm for goodlife fitness. as far as i know people think it's a scam

this is probably for those who haven't paid their fees at Goodlife, that's probably the reason they're calling, that's why they're calling me.

yeah I just got a call from them, funny, cuz I canceled the membership 1 month ago, and I guess now they want there money. I herd thats been happening alot.

THESE PEOPLE ARE BLOODY [***].  CASEY VAN MURLAND LAW FIRM, TRYING TO SCAM RECENT GOODLIFE MEMBERS THAT ARE NO LONGER MEMBERS.  I HAVE BEEN RECIEVING CALLS FOR OVER 9 MONTHS, AND THEY ARE RELENTLESS IN LETTING ME KNOW THAT I 'APPARENTLY' OWE THEM MONEY ON AN ALREADY FULFILLED AND PAID FOR 1 YEAR CONTRACT.

I kept on getting calls...i called up Goodlife toll free line....i KNEW that i had no remaining balances with them...the verified...told me they were sorry and would call the law firm first thing in the morning and i wouldn't hear from them again...

yeah .. this is all a scam .. i didnt even have a membership with them and they made me pay them extra feecs for tht shyt and now they keep calling my house as well ..!! they even made my file number and my family was completly disturbed .. probably if this is the case i may sue them for distrubing my family and me ...!! since 7.36 p.m. after there phone call my father who is heart patient is worried and hawling at me about this crap... !! i dun even know i will call good life myself and if required the cops on these people..

They are not a collection agency... just a call center represented as a lawyers office.  The people you are speaking with are telemarketers.  If you don't want to pay, you will have to take them to small claims court to get out of your unpaid dues.

Just got a call from them thanks people and I am sure it is goodlife fitness I cancelled my membership....so that must be them:)

a lawyers office continually call me looking for someone else despite the fact i told them more than 2 months ago iam not that person and this is not the right number

just reported them to the law society of upper canada! not sure what will happen...lawyers squealing on lawyers...just as sad as our politicians!

As some people have reported, they handle cases at least for GoodLife.  My card expired, then I cancelled, so they charged me $25 + my outstanding monthly fee.  While I paid it before the due date, they scum bags seemed to still pass on the file to these folks.  The bad guys here are obviously not the law firm folks, but GoodLife Fitness!  And they expect to increase popularity????

I didn't quite get the entire law firm's name, but it sounds pretty much like the firm that someone reported on 11 Dec

Got a call from 1-866-681-1772, the woman said her name was Karen Silver and the firm is KC Van Moynahan.

The name of the law firm/lawyer is Casey Van Moorlehem, on Woodbridge Street in Vaughn Ont. It does actually exist.

They are a legal firm but act as collection agency for GoodLife.

I went ahead and returned the call, mostly because I could barely understand what the man had been saying in the message.

Apparently this is a legal collection firm hired by GoodLife Fitness to collect on overdue accounts.

They wanted me to arrange a payment with them and I told the woman point-blank that I could hear telemarketers at work in the noisy background and that I did not believe she was calling from a legitimate Barrister/Soliciter's office. She told me I could contact that Law Society of Upper Canada to verify the legitimacy of their operation and I have done so. She also said that, if I preferred, I could go in and pay my overdue account at the gym directly.
Here is what I received back from the Law Society of Upper Canada:
I am in receipt of your inquiry regarding the verification of a lawyer that you believe is named Casey Von Morlehan.

I can confirm that we do have a William Casey Von Moorlehem listed as a lawyer licensee with the Law Society of Upper Canada. He is currently listed as a Sole Practitioner and is in good standing.

We got a letter from Casey Van Moorlehem demanding that my son pay the fees that he supposedly owed to Good Life Fitness within 7 days. We called Good Life Fitness and informed them that my son had canceled his one month free trial membership on the last day the free trial ended. He had hand given a letter withdrawing from the contract to the person at the front desk of the facility. She never gave him a letter confirming his wishes to withdraw. About a month later my son had noticed that Good Life was still withdrawing money out of his bank account. So he put a stop on it and written another letter withdrawing from their contract and demanded that they reimburse him the money they took after he had withdrawn the first time. He had mailed it to them this time. He never received a confirmation letter from them confirming the membership was indeed canceled. After five months of no word from them at all he received a letter from Casey Van Moorlehem Barristers and Solicitors, demanding he pay his outstanding fees within 7 days. When he spoke to Good Life Fitness he was told that he has to pay it because they said that never received any of those letters, and even tho we had copies of those letters they told us that there is no proof that we actually sent the letters to Good Life Fitness. Furthermore, we found out that part of those charges are a cancellation fee that they charge that supposedly are written on the back of the agreement. We informed them that there is nothing written on the back of the copy my son was given that shows that there is a cancellation fee of $99.99. I argued with them over this and told them that this has been badly mishandled and that I believed that my son who is only 19 and unaware of fine print in contracts was taken advantage of and was scammed by them. My problem is now what to do about this should he pay the full amount or not before we start getting those harassing calls? Does this affect his credit rating? He's only 19 and should not have to suffer because of incompetent workers and hidden fees. Any suggestions?
