Supposedly this is Canada Revenue... I just got suspicious because my phone locates it in the United States. She wants to know about my GST/HST information. Which is odd because I haven't done anything different the last few years. Kim is her name.

I also got a call from this number claiming that it was a "Kim" from Revenue Canada.  100% sure it's a scam, beware!

Kim Daigle is legitimate and is calling from the Canada Revenue Agency in Summerside, PEI. I spent a lot of time on the phone with CRA to confirm that she's legit. I was initially suspicious too. When in doubt, call CRA's 1-800 number.

There is a widespread IRS (or CRA) or "tax scam" being  practiced by scammers on both USA and Canadian residents.

This is Robert Campbell of the CRA and is dealing with HST accounts - This one is not a scam.

It probably is a scam.  GST is goods and services tax and HST is Harmonized Sales Tax.  Tax liabilities are often used as a basis for various sorts of scams.  What sort of scam is being perpetrated here is unclear.  Other sites have reported people calling on behalf of Canadian tax authorites trying to get business or personal tax information.  I would not give out any information to anyone who cold calls you no matter who he or she claims to represent.

Question: If you know who this number belongs to, why did you look it up?

It was CRA. Verified this number was kosher.

It was CRA about a GST account. Verified the number by calling another CRA office. Actually got some money back. Bonus!

Was that money back delivered by Santa Claus?

The guy's name was Robert Gamble. He was in the GST compliance section. I did have to get a GST account, but because of my export business selling on ebay, I would up being in a refund position.
