- EWTXCalled right at the cusp of the allowable limit, 8:59 p.m., and when I pressed the caller for a company name, "1-800-MYMAJOR" was all I could get. When I stated that the number called had been on both the national do not call list and state do not call list for years, his reply was, "No. If it was on the do not call list, we would not call." When I pressed him further for a company address, he hung up.
Incoming caller ID was 352-450-2150. When I called that number, I was greeted by my first name. I said I was solicited in violation of the Federal Telephone Consumer Protection Act. The statement back was that I specifically had asked for information from this company via a Website. I informed the company that I was 60 and in no way had ever asked for college information, online or otherwise. They stated bluntly that I had. I asked for the company's corporate name and address. The only name the representative knew was "1-800-MYMAJOR." When pressed for a corporate address, all I got was West Palm Beach, Florida.
I asked, "Are you an employee or simply an answering service?"
"I'm an employee."
"Yet you don't know the corporate address?"
"I just work here."
"You don't know the address where you go to work every day?"
Defensively, "You asked us to contact you with information."
"Again: I absolutely did not, nor is there anyone in this household who did so."
When I said the truth might come out in a formal FCC complaint, the representative hung up on me.
There are far too many unscrupulous, and illegal, enterprises getting away with violations of the Telephone Consumer Protection Act. Remember, TCPA was passed in 1991, then amended in 2003...when the national do not call list was implemented. These laws are not new. And we should do what we can to report all violators...as well as ask our Senators and Representatives to put teeth in the existing laws by demanding the FCC do more, much more, to police these constant infractions.- Caller: 1-800-MYMAJOR

- An employee named Nichol at 866-My-MajorLol, yall are SO FUNNY. We get such a kick out of you guys that think we are telemarketers because you couldn't be more wrong. WE ARE CUSTOMER SERVICE AGENTS who HELP PEOPLE. We are a non-profit company and all the agents get paid HOURLY, not commission, so honestly we could care less weather or not you do sign up for pre-qualification. This company is amazing and their goal is to help people, who requested our information, (weather they went to our website directly OR filled out a survey) speak to admissions rep's with collages/trade schools/ect and help them take the first step to going back to school for the program you want. We solicit no one and do not steal your information or stalk you WHAT SO EVER. EWTX: first of all, I'm sorry that not all of our agents arent the brightest crayons in the box, and that is certainly not the way we are supposed to handle customer complaints AT ALL, I would reccomend anyone who is treated this way to call AND KEEP CALLING (Keep track of how many people hang up on you) and ask for their manager DENISE, continue to do so until one of our more dedicated employees directs you to her. She runs the place. Also there is no 800-My-Major, only 866-My-Major. Furthermore, YALL fill out stupid surveys because you are not the brightest crayons in the box either and want to get these free Walmart cards, lap tops, iPad's and various other fake free product opportunities (Sometimes websites even make you fill out the survey to get job listings). In YOUR process of trying to rush through the survey process to get free things you don't even pay attention to the BRIGHT RED BUTTON THAT SAYS "REQUEST INFORMATION"!!! Lol See, its all becoming clear now isn't it? If you didn't do any of the above A:Your kids are filling out these stupid surveys in your name because you are the first person they think of when they are looking for information about school but they need to be 18 or older OR B: You need to contact someone in regards to identity theft because they have either signed you up for more information or were doing surveys in your name OR C: A friend signed you up. However, you keep getting called because you either hang up on us with out saying a word, cuss us out and we schedule you for a call back (that's our way of having fun at work, sorry but its 150% hilarious) OR you continually don't answer and let it go to voice mail. No disrespect but we are forbidden from "PIMPING" high schoolers or soliciting anyone from anywhere. All our applicants must be:
Over 18
Not in High School or collage OR wanting to transfer to a different collage
English speaking
Live in the US
and WANT to continue their education within 12 months.
I am truely very sorry your so ignorant, maybe you should pay more attention to what your doing when providing your personal information and give us a call at 866MyMajor and we'll help you get on the right path to furthering your education ;)- Caller: I work for the company in which you are complaining about
