Received call from 866-714-3863, caller would only identify himself by saying legal dept. Refused to Identify the company or agency he represented. Threatened collection of a debt by having three sheriff deputies come to detain me.

Legal department of Fineberg & Phillips according to the man who called me (Sean) attempting to collect on a US Bank debt.

The call came as an UNKNOWN #, but a voice mail was left which gave this # for callback for information on a court summons for immediate attention. When I called this #, a male took my call and the "case #" from the voicemail. He asked if I was ________ (my daughter, actually). When I asked for further information - simply the business he was representing.He said the summons was from the local county court, so I asked what county- he became terse to hostile and said he was delivering a court summons and could not give me details b/c it was against federal law, and he would lose his job - basically implied her was with the federal government. I called the "local county" office, and the clerk said such stuff makes her mad. She said that is NOT how they handle official business.

They were calling to attempting to collect on a US Bank debt.  The ask me if I wanted to make payment arraignment over the phone and I said yes and then they ask me for any credit card and I told I want the company name and address so I know who I was making that payment abd the man told me he was going to send me an e-mail w all the info. So I told him I will make the payments then after they send me the info I ask for...

This is clearly a phishing attack.  Someone says they are from investigations. You must call back within 24 hours!  What a joke!  Nothing but fraudsters.

Calls went through as *UNKNOWN*  They called me, my mom, dad, sisters (2), even my freaking brother in law!! Told them all that I failed to show up to court and that I either needed to go pick up my summons or they were sending a summons (all were told different). I didn't call them back and don't plan on it!! My company sent out a memo literally yesterday warning about phone scammers, I think they may have been hacked (maybe?) somehow because a coworker got similar calls today as well. It's olny getting easier for these scumbags -_-

We also got the same phone call. Please someone figure this out. It is not cool to be calling and harassing people and trying to collect money from people. Go get a real job and leave people alone.

Got the call Aug 10, they haven't called back by now, Aug 15. Must not be too serious. :) They identified only as "Investigation Department", gave this number, gave a case number, and said something about a summons. It's hard to believe a legitimate organization would neglect to mention which company or institution they were the "Investigation Dept." for.

They called and left a msg stating they were from Investigations. That's it! No real name! If i didn't call back today they would send someone to my home or office of record! Yea, whatever! Sounded like a punk kid in some call center...Pisses me off to no end!

Got a voicemail that said, "Hi, I'm calling on behalf of the investigations department.  We're gonna need a return call back.  That number is 866-714-3863. Case number on file is 42-00103. We do need a call back as soon as possible."  No identification of the company he was with, or who he was trying to reach.  Legally, I believe both of those pieces of information have to be given.  Scam.

Some poor, prepubescent boy left me a voicemail claiming he was from "the investigation department" (failed to mention which agency or organization) and that if I did not respond within 24 hours my address or work address would be used as verification for a summons. He very quickly ran through case and phone numbers, I don't plan on calling in. You can hear multiple others reciting the same script in the background.

I received a call from this number. The guy said in a stern voice he was the Investigations department. He left a case number and said I needed to call back within 24 hours or the employment information on file would be used. I amnot sure who this is but I don't have any debts in collections.

Said if I dont call within 24 hours they would kidnap my entire Family

Horrible Man called my unlisted work phone and threatend.. I have NO dept..Same story as all the others..  This Moron who Yelled at me is getting his voice mail Filled up tonight and see how he likes that. I suggest WE ALL keep calling this number and hang up.. [***].. HOW DARE THEY scare people ..

We keep getting calls from this place.  They are a bunch of scammers!!!  They try intimidating you into setting up payment plans. They did this to my daughter and she set up payment plans with them.  The document for the payment plan is a spread sheet with their name typed in the upper corner with no address and no phone number.  This makes them a legit company right...
They are not listed with the bbb or any type of google search.

It sounds kike one of the many third party debt collectors mentioned here on 800notes. I have dealt with calls such as yours. But in my case, the calls were for people I never heard of. I tried telling them they had the wrong number and the calls continued. I finally realized these places assume their outdated information is correct and the person that answered is trying to avoid them. Unfortunately they are not covered by the DNCR.
Consider the option of a call blocker.

I have received so many calls from so many numbers, I have come to the conclusion that investment in a disposable air horn is well worth it. If someone curses or threatens me then they will have to use the other ear from now on. :-)
