Calls at least 5 times a day anywhere from 8am to 9pm. When you answer they either hang up or ask for my husband when I ask what it's in regards to they tell me they'll call back later. This isn't the only number they use. I've had several other numbers call and they're all from the same company. It't most annoying!!!!!!!

received this phone call couple of times with name of family member with a extra last name added electronically with message to call this number (877-290-2721) if that person doesn't live there.  Obviously some time of scam....check when people are home... telemarketer...etc....very frustrating and should be illegal.  Got 2 more calls since wife called to correct the matter for our son...lol, go figure.

finally checked number that called in...this number..finally know who it is..but frustrating that dont respond when u answer the phone....oh well....debt collectors the new lawyers..

Love this site...keep it up..important to know the tricks these scam artists are using.

I just got a dead call from these idiots. I am on the Do Not Call list so I just sent in a complaint. If you aren't on the DNC list, then I recommend that you do it ASAP! It, for the most part, stops all the crap calls. Also from the same page ( will provide link) you can fill out a complaint form for any that slip under the radar such as the 866-725-5205 idiots. The FCC does follow up on all complaints. I have complained on a few such numbers and have recieved mailings from the FCC regarding each complaint AND as soon as I filed the complaint, the pests stop calling!

    The link is: http://esupport.fcc.gov/complaints.htm

From this site, you can add any phone numbers to the DNC lists including cell, fax, work and landline =).

I receive a call once a day Monday thru Friday at different times of the day and when I say hello they
hang-up which is extremely annoying.  I don't have any outstanding debt therefore a debt collection company shouldn't be calling me.  The caller ID says Toll Free Call.

I continued to get phone calls from this number, with the caller always hanging up.  So after repeatingly calling THEM back, and telling them to take my number off the list, I was told that it was taken off, (which they said it was never on there) and to not call that office back.  So today is 9/20/10, lets see how long this will last!!!!

    Keep you posted!

p.s. I have no debt or have ever had any debt with these people.

    Thank You

The average consumer debt collector employee places 200 collection calls per day or 50,000 calls per year!  How do they make so many calls?  Most use a technology known as autodialing, even though the use of an autodialer by a collector often violates the Telephone Consumer Protection Act (TCPA).
The penalty for violating the TCPA is HUGE – Every illegal phone call carries with it a $500 penalty, and if the collector knows he is violating the Act, the penalty is tripled!

As the name implies, an auto-dialer is a sophisticated computer system that constantly and continuously dials numbers on collection accounts.  When someone answers the phone, the computer immediately delivers the call to a collector, and the account pops up on the collector’s monitor.  So, if you are behind in your bills, you (and your family and your employer) are getting calls from your debt collectors – a lot of calls!

Not every call using an autodialer is illegal.  Most notably, a consumer debt collector can call a debtor at home using an autodialer.  However, the following two acts violate the TCPA if an autodialer is used:

Making a collection call to a cell phone belonging to the debtor or any third party
Making a collection call to any telephone number not belonging to the debtor

Like every rule, there is an exception.  If the debt collector has the prior written consent of the recipient, then there is NO VIOLATION.  For instance, if the debtor gives the debt collector permission to call his cell number, or if that’s the only number the debtor provided his creditor, there is no violation.  However, the debtor can revoke that consent by advising the collector that he has reached a cell phone and that he does not have permission to call that number again.

TCPA violations often occur when consumer collectors contact the debtor’s family members or coworker looking for the debtor.  If an autodialer is used to place the call, there is an immediate violation of $500.  If the collector KNOWS that the number he is dialing belongs to debtor’s family members or coworker, the fine is $1,500 for a single call.  So, if the debtor’s parents get 100 calls from a harassing collector, the statutory fine is as high as $150,000!

How do you know if an autodialer is being used to make calls to you or your friends, family and coworkers?  You don’t, but it is safe to assume that every collection call is using the technology.  An attorney familiar with the TCPA can subpoena the collection agency and acquire account notes generated by the computer system.

Why would a collection agency employ a technology that exposes the agency to huge civil penalties?  The enormous profits generated by autodialing far outweigh the potential penalty when caught.  In other words, it is just the cost of doing business.

I just got a call from LDG Financial from this number about a debt with Wells Fargo that was previously settled.  I did not "verify" my address with the caller since I'd already settled the debt and doing so would give someone information hey have no right to.  I am waiting for their next call and will ask them to send me information regarding the validity of the debt that they purchased.
