they call my cell phone and say there is an important call please hold. These calls are at least twice a day. No one ever answers. I tried to call to asked them to take me off of this list. There is no way you can reach them.

This is Amsure debt collections. They have called me and left a voicemail and the name they are looking for is not someone at my address/phone number. By listening to the message, it says you acknowledge that you are the person that they are looking for. Gooed luck with that. They ask that you call back to 800-246-9590.

Yeah, those calls are amusing. I got one some years ago and the recording was looking for someone else. It said: "by continuing to listen, you admit that you are such-and-such person." I wasn't paying full attention and listened to the whole message and thought: "OMG! Now I am this person! What to I do?"

I took out my driver's license and looked at it. Fortunately, I was still me. *Whew!* That was a close one!

These guys are the worst kind of scum.  They cold call using a fake name and hope you answer.  Then they tell you (YOU) not the name that you owe money, or you are going to court.  HA! They threaten court in two days.  Wow, it takes three months to get on the docket. Also, there is a little matter called the Letter of Debt they owe you before a judgement is made.

Here is a good rule of thumb, if someone calls and is a debt collector, either hang up (best idea), or tell them (1) Give me an address where I can send a certified letter requesting a letter of debt, and (2) that you have no intention of paying it.  #2 by law tells them they may NEVER call you again.

The people who collect these debts are scum, and often do not stay at a job more than a month.  Commission only!  So they will double bill a credit card, and take as much money as possible from a bank account.  Saw this happen to a young, naive lady earlier this year.

I keep getting calls from Amsure Debt Collectors for Margaret Cannon.Margaret does not and has never lived here.I do have her Phone number,it is:  352-468-1730

we get about three calls a day from Amsure Debt collection and I called back after getting the 1-800 # and the women on the phone was so rude and said she would take my # off the system. I asked when and she said Well I was going to do it now BUT....................................... and hung up.
How can we get this taken care of? Does anyone know who I can contact. I am in wisconsin

I am receiving calls from Amsure Debt Colletors also and they are very rude. I told them to take me off their call list and do whatever they have to do. I owe nothing and will pay nothing. How do I stop them form calling my home?They are worsome and ercking my last nerve.

Here's how I dealt with calls for Michael the Deadbeat on my cell phone
1)  download a "no ring" ring tone.  Set Michael's callers to that ring tone
2)  let Michael's callers go straight to voice mail for 2 weeks
3)  changed those callers to another ring tone, answer one and explain the situatio.

I only got 1 more call for Michael after that.  That call was from one of those companies that buys old debts that banks have written off and try to collect.

Its worth a try.

I get calle about 3 times a week and the recorded message asks for Ophelia ******,  Each time I press the button that she is not here and they continue to call back.  I get these calle as late as 11:30 PM.  Is there any way to get this stopped.

Made a mistake and selected the wrong call type.  It's a debt collection message.  They constantly call my home phone number for someone who does not, nor as best I can determine, has ever, had my phone number.  Like others, I tried calling back to the number the recording provides but never get anyone.  How can I get this to stop!

YAY!  I called 800-246-9590 and asked them to remove my phone number from their database and they were nice and courteous to me....My guess is that they've gotten so many complaints that they've no other choice but to comply with federal consumer credit law.  SURPRISE SURPRISE!  ;)

They said they'd remove my number, so we'll wait until tomorrow and see if they really did it.

They keep calling my house.  One time a lady said she is looking for Alonzo with same last name of mine. Told her theire is no one by that  name here. She said she was going to take our number of the list.  Well that only lasted two weeks.  So now I block that number. Let's wait and see.
