They are a scam company using Catholic Health Initiatives as a cover up. They request a government W-9  to be signed with all your information and they take your identity and run with it. They claim you have done business with them. Dont fall for it - its a scam.

I received a small check from CHI in the mail.  There is almost no information with it except an address in Colorado but the check was mailed from Omaha for a bank in Pittsburgh.  The phone number to call for assistance is the number of this inquiry.  I suspect if I cash or deposit it I will be giving them my bank info.  It's not worth the $14 (which I have never paid to a Mercy facility/provider).  I'm shredding it.

I just got the exact same message as 'Buddy'.  Small check sent from Catholic Health Initiative, payable to me- also sent from Omaha with a a Pittsburgh bank.  The number, 866-731-3267, is listed as the 'accounts payable inquiries' number, but this same number is reported elsewhere as being some type of scam company based in the Caribbean.

Received a small check 9.91 from Catholic Health Initiatives Littleton Co. But has Bank of NY-Melton N-A Pittsburgh PA. It has a # assigned and St Vincent . This feels like a scam. Shred. Not worth the trouble it would cause  if it is a scam.

I received a check as well. But mine is for 100 bucks! And if it's a scam for bank info, I'll just cash it at Walmart and beat them at their own game 😉

Nah nvm I'm not gonna do that 😂 just RIP it up or shred it. Its definitely a scam. If you never get checks in the mail, and you receive a random check then most likely it's a scam.

I just received a check from them as well for $592.56.   I wonder where they are getting their information.   I have been healthy for the past 30+ years but recently have had two major surgeries and various other procedures during the past 1.5 years. Nothing related to CHI though!
    Don’t fall for it...   Beware!

I just got off the phone with someone from CHI. She told me that she has been getting a lot of calls on this. She told me that it's most likely a reimbursement for overcharges on a bill that could go back several years. She told me she called the billing department to ask about this and that was the answer she was given.I didn't call the number on the check, I called the number on CHI's websight

When I received a check for $200 on 5/11/2020, I did some digging around.  I tried to call the number on the check and it gave me direction to email.  I sent a picture of the check to a friend who works at a bank, she told me it was a good routing number.  I followed the instruction from the phone call and emailed to inquire.  They responded and told me that it is a refund from over-payment from a surgery I had several years ago.Do not throw these checks away without checking into them! It is a legitimate email address.  I also googled the company and they were hiring for a position that does just this...determine overpayments, etc.

This is NOT a scam.  There should be an attachment with your check.  It will have your name and below is a description of who overpaid you.  Call that company or hospital and they will be able to tell you if you should have received a check and how much it was for.  Please do not throw it away it is your money.  The one I received was from a surgery and the insurance company overpaid the hospital.   They verified everything.

We also thought this was a scam. But we saved the check and thought about it for a few days. Then my husband remembered he had a colonoscopy in 2016 at a CHI facility in another city. He called their accounting department and they confirmed we indeed had a refund. The check will go into our account soon. The stub did give the name of a hospital but no city name.
