- JackI got a voice mail from asking me to call U.S. Banks fraud services department at this number this morning. I called back, gave them my info and they told me that there had been a suspicious charge (which they rejected) on my Visa check card this morning that was likely someone testing the card number to see if it worked. I told them that I didn't recognize the card, and they said they would close it and send me a new one. After I hung up I realized that I had just called this number and given out my credit card number, which made me a little nervous, so I followed up with a call to U.S. Bank's main number at 1-800-US-BANKS. I spoke with a banker and she confirmed that this is indeed the number for their credit card fraud liaison and that my check card had been closed and a new one issued. After that, I logged into the US Bank internet banking site and verified that the last 4 digits of the card associated with my checking account had indeed change. This number is legit, but definitely call the main number if you're not sure.

- KateI had the same concern when I got a call from the 866 number but called US Bank's main number and they verified that it was legitimate. Love US Bank for calling me before the fraud took on a life of its own!
- Peggy D.Was very leary of the call received from this number but after reading the posts here--I returned the phone call. Totally legitimate!!! How thankful I am that US Bank is vigilant in watching my account. I was lucky--the charges were valid. Better safe than sorry!!! Thanks US Bank!!!!
- DrumTrackerThis number is from US Bank Fraud Department. They called about a couple of transactions that were made on my bank card. The reason they weren't declined was because they were both between 2 & 3 dollars. One was from some company I hadn't heard of and the other was from a clothing store. I am 60 and don't do clothing over the internet. Apparently the bums were checking to see if the account number was good. The bank is really on top of this stuff. The card number was closed. I am getting reimbursed and a new card number. It's a bit of a pain, since I won't have my card for a few days, but is better than the alternative. USBank Rocks!

- JamesThis is definitely a US Bank Fraud Protection number. I just got off the phone with US Bank, after calling the Fraud Department # on their site (different from the one on my voicemail) and they confirmed the number. I got that weird feeling too as I was giving my card and personal info over the phone, but it is US Bank, and they explained the charges that were attempted with my card. I am very glad they caught the idiot trying to use my card, before they actually wiped out my account!
- Caller: US Bank
- ShellyI believe this is legit. They did not ask me for my PIN or security number and only last 4 numbers of my SSN. They also new of past transactions and asked if I remember those, so I doubt someone trying to gain my information or card number would have access to this type of information.
- Caller: USBank
- SAOThis is a legit number for U.S. Bank Fraud detection. I've been contacted twice. The first time was a transaction I didn't make and the second was a transaction that I did make. So rest assured, this is a legit number. It's sad that we live in a world now where NO ONE can be trusted.
- CBThis number is legit for US Bank fraud detection, though it is unnerving to have them call unexpectedly and ask for all your account info. If you are still leery about it, simply call US Bank directly (800 US BANKS) and ask for their fraud protection dept phone #. When I did this, they gave me the same 866-737-6844 number.
- saraI just got a phone message from Eric at US Bank fraud protection at 866-737-6844 stating there was unauthorized activity and wanted us to call back with the full card number. I thought this sounded shady, so I called 1-800-US-BANKS on the back of the card & verified that it was indeed their fraud number and the magnetic strip & card number had been compromised. They had immediately suspended the account & are sending a new card.
- Caller: us bank
- HeidiI had the same message and called the number. there was fraud on my card and I had it cancelled. Thanks, US Bank! Because of some of these posts and that there was no fraud phone number that matched this on US Bank's website, I was still a little worried and called 1-800-USBANKS (the number on the back of the credit card) just to make sure all was good. US Bank did confirm it IS their fraud dept phone number. You should just call the phone number on the back of the card and choose the 'report fraud' option to have no questions asked. Thanks, US Bank!
- ReneeI got a call from (913)725-6115 that left this number to call back about my debit card. I called my bank first and just like everyone says they gave me the same number left on the message. Completely legit someone was making purchases online with my card number.

- BEEISHYI just got a fraud alert saying they were from US Bank and giving me this number to ring. As I am naturally a suspicious person I checked it out and got the correct number to report the $5k which had been defrauded from my account.
- Caller: NOT US BANK
- Call type: Scam suspicion
- KReceived a call from this number regarding possible fraudulent charges that U.S. Bank wanted to verify. Like others, I was skeptical-especially because my account online didn't show any pending or processed charges that I wouldn't recognize, so I called the number on the back of my actual card. It was U.S. Bank reaching out to verify some strange charges that were flagged-as the representative told me, 'my card was part of a potential group of cards compromised'. We verified correct and incorrect charges over the last few days, and they put a freeze on this card to send me a new one. This is the 3rd or 4th time my card has been compromised, but this was the first time they reached out prior to me seeing the transactions. This number did come from the fraud department with U.S. Bank, but I still recommend using the number on the back of your card instead of the call back number, just for your own security.
