Message left saying "I have a very important message for you" Nothing else.

A message is left on your answering machine:
"We have an important message for you. Call back at 1-866-754-5602"

Upon calling a message claims the organization you are calling is Nordon Collection. Then you wait for an agent to speak with you. In conclusion this is a scam. Details of the call follow below.

Agent refuses to identify himself, his agency and the reason for calling. He is sarcastic towards you when you threaten to call the FBI to investigate him and his organization. He claims that it is futile to alert the FBI because you are in Canada (not true). He demands information from you. After arguing with him and threatening to call USA law enforcement (866-754-5602 is a USA number) he resigns to tell you he's taking you off his list.

DO NOT give any personal information to the people at this number.
Identity and bank fraud are suspected operations of this agency.

- have been receiving calls from this number and other 866 numbers that are from the same people

- called back and one of their agents was really mean

- agent said i would be taken off their list because i was not the person they're after

- now they are leaving threatening messages
- these new messages can't be traced by *57 which is for police
- this is terrifying me

I just got the call right now... and let the machine pick it up then did a search for the number. Thanks so much to you guys who have already reported it here.

Beend calling me this week. The third one reallly interests me on calling this number. Upon calling, an agent answered it like it was just a home phone. The person had a Jamaican accent. So, I told her someone have been calling me. So, she started asking for my telephone number so she can retrieve my file. She then said, that my phone number might have been deleted that she couldn't retrieve it. She then asked me my name so she could retrieve it through my name. From here, I had my doubt. So I made-up a name. I'm not that dumb to be fooled, so I played along with her. It was obviously a scam because of how she handled the phone call. I asked her what company is this and said that it's the City of Toronto. Then she went on saying I owe the city of toronto $550 (Yeah right, I said to myself). After her complicated search, she puts me on hold. I mean it was not professional without proper introduction and all those marketing stuff. I used to work in telemarketing, so I know. Anyways, she came back to the phone and confirmed the address that they, so-called, have on their system. "Do you live at this and that ... Scarborough blah blah blah?" aked the scamer. I said yes even though I might put that addressee in trouble. The call ended with her saying, "your account has been closed because you no longer have an outstanding balance with the city of toronto, so if you get anymore calls, please disregard them."

Thank you for this site.  I've been getting calls from this number every day for about 2 months.  Every time it's the same thing.  I say "hello" and I hear something that sounds like a foreign language -- it sounds something like "pre send", then nothing.  One time I waited and got a person who asked for Karen (not my name).  When I said there was no Karen here, he just hung up.  I get this on my cell phone every day -- at a different time of day each time.

Thanks for letting me know that I'm not the only one being harassed this way.  What is the solution?  Can't the phone company do something about this?

This number is actually legit and is a Canadian Collection Agency.  They collect for, among others, the 407 ETR.  Tracking down people that owe money often leads to calling friends and family.  They may even wlak the fine line between legitimate tactics and illegal ones.  The agency that is using this number is:

I have experienced debt first hand so tread lightly.  Educate yourself and then deal wtih the collection agency.  They will always negotiate the outstanding balance and accept a lump sum payment to clear an account.  It does not hurt to ask.  Example, Nor Don, on behalf of the 407 ETR will take 80% of the bill and close the account.  All you have to do is ask. So, a bill of $850.00 can be closed out for $680.00.  I say go for more and see where they settle, remember they want their money and wating for you to pay or if you choose to make small payments means they have to wait along time and it costs them to manage it.  Again, do some research and then clear up your account.
