Said call was of urgent matter and further information is needed. I filed bankruptcy in Feb so do not have any outstanding bills.

I've received a message today from this number saying something about some documents & some legal matter that I'm not aware of & the person leaving the voice message didn't say who he was nor what he works for. It's a scam.

Just got a call from them. Picked up and heard the same automated message, stayed on the line and spoke with a "clerk" who spouted off some cobbled together bits and pieces about me (a former address, former employer, and email address...a bit disturbing they got their hands on all that). They claimed to represent a loan underwriter who provided me a cash advance 6 years ago and they were a locator service with whom I could settle the debt.

In an attempt to get more information, I told them I would like to settle. They forwarded me to the "litigation" specialist who used the same personal details from earlier plus some threatening legal verbiage to try and coerce me into paying to "settle" this supposed debt over the phone. I hung up.

This is a scam! Don't pick up the call. If you do, don't provide these people any information about yourself and don't be fooled by the charade.

Same exact story as Matt told above....  Called me several names...  Included telling me I am 'not a retired cop or a veteran..  You are a coward...'  I am waiting for him to come see me....

Most debts have limitations. You should always check with your state. Promising to pay can start the clock all over again.

That's a great point and I should have included it in my post above as a precaution. I had never taken a cash advance and recently checked my credit file and knew nothing of the sort from 2011 was on it. As such I felt comfortable playing their game to extract some more info.

Yes! They called and had a lot of my personal information, which is scary. It is quite obvious that they have been in my yahoo account. I scoured all of my bank statements from the year they claim I owe money for this 'payment' that was returned and it is not there. They even know where I bank! They sound very serious and it sounds real. However, 3-4 months ago, they called and said they were sending the court papers or the Sheriff... nothing. They had my address too! This is fake!!!

I agree with the others here. Probably a scam. I've never been in debt. Just got this voicemail..

I just received a call from this place too telling me about some documents were sent to be filed and I needed to call them or more legal action will be taken against me. But of course they never left their name or where they're from or any other information. And where I live they have to send you something in the mail legally to do anything to you they can't just call you up and say oh you owe this money and if you don't do that I'm sending you to prison they legally have to send you something in the mail .
