These people are calling me everyday and leave a message that it is Michael Cunninham or somebody Cunningham.  Anyway, answered it today and it was some very pushy man trying to get in touch with an individual who happens to be my exhusband and asked him how he got my number and he told me the individual gave it to him which is a total lie because my ex does not have my number - he told me he must have pulled it out of a hat to give it to him and follwed this with a bunch of other blatant lies.  Asked for a supervisor and was told the supervisor was busy.  Called back and he knew exactly who I was.  These people are harrassing me everyday during work and can't turn my phone off because I use it for work so does anyone know how I can get rid of them?

Got a call from this number asking for someone who used to have my number. I told him he has the wrong number, he said "I'm calling from Chicago..."  Then I said "Again, this is not her number."  He says "let me finish my sentence!"  When I said a 3rd time that it was not her number, he hung up on me.

They called me last night and it was a recording from Michael Nelson.  It said to call back some 800 number or press 1 to be connected to an agent.  I pressed 1 and got put on hold.  I was talking on my cell so I didn't hold just hung up.  I'm guessing they were calling for someone else because I have gotten many many calls for someone else since I've had this new number, about 3 weeks.  I thought I finally got rid of all the wrong number calls from collection agencies.

Tuesday, Nov 11, 2008 @ 11:43pm, that's right 11:43 PM, my phone rang and I was awoken from my sleep.  I, of course, jumped out of bed, expecting this to be an "emergency" call from a family member, close friend, etc.

My Caller ID indicated some number beginning with 866, so I ignored it.

At 2:20am, just over 2 1/2 hours after receiving the call, I again woke up and, as I went to get a glass of water, I checked my phone and the Voice Mail indicator was on.

I dialed into my Voice Mailbox and got a message, "received yesterday at 11:44pm" (the computerized recording one hears before listening to the message).  Here's the message, said in a rather brusque tone:

"Daniel, this is Miss Bluff. I need you to contact me at 866 756 3912 x230 right away"   No thank you, goodbye, or anything.

I called back the number, thinking perhaps it was some intermediary for the police, a hospital, whatever.

This is what I got:  "Thank you for calling Leading Edge Recovery Solutions.  Our office hours are Mon-Thu, 8am-9pm, Fri 8-5, and Sat 8-12, Central Standard Time. If you know your party's extension, you may dial it now."

After I dialed "230," the system said "sorry, that's an invalid extension."

    - Again, this ""Miss Bluff" did not say from which company she was calling, or the purpose of the call.  Just "I need you to contact me at 866 756 3912 x230 right away."  This would be unprofessional enough between 8am-8pm, but at 11:44pm?!!!!!

I will try calling again tomorrow (actually, later on today) to see if I can get this person, or her supervisor.

I do not know what this call was about, but for them to call me at 11:43pm, Eastern Time (10:43pm, Central Time) is UNACCEPTABLE.

I don't anger easily, but this company BETTER give me some answers as to why I received a call at almost midnight, local time.
(I saved the Voice Mail, with "time stamp," and will pursue this with my state's Consumer Affairs division, if need be)

I will keep you posted. Thank you.

You also need to report them to the Federal Trade Commission, as they have violated Section 805 of the FDCPA (Fair Debt Collection Practice Act) by calling you after 9 PM local time:

§ 805.  Communication in connection with debt collection   [15 USC 1692c]

    (a) COMMUNICATION WITH THE CONSUMER GENERALLY.  Without the prior consent of the consumer given directly to the debt collector or the express permission of a court of competent jurisdiction, a debt collector may not communicate with a consumer in connection with the collection of any debt --

    (1) at any unusual time or place or a time or place known or which should be known to be inconvenient to the consumer. In the absence of knowledge of circumstances to the contrary, a debt collector shall assume that the convenient time for communicating with a consumer is after 8 o'clock antimeridian and before 9 o'clock postmeridian, local time at the consumer's location...

stupid women and men have been calling me from this # 866-756-3912; leaving messages for me, asking to call back. I do not owe money to anyone and i will not call these idiots back. pls do NOT provide them with any information. I'd advise to check your accounts and your credit reports at least every two weeks; just in case someone is using your identity.

They even call in leave messages in Spanish. Who knows who they are; We don't have any late or delinquent account SO screw them. For those who don't know and might be tempted to call, do not provide any personal information about you; like SS# date of birth etc. You will be screwed if you do. It's a good idea to buy any credit monitoring service for about $12 per month. Just like the above poster suggests. Also, if they know who they're calling they should give you that information up front and/or in writing via certified mail. THEY ARE ANNOYING, I do feel so sorry for them, it's is a nasty job; they belong to the very bottom of the food chain. In all fairness one time I tried to pick the phone, there was no one on the other side, looks like they target answering machines; that's how stupid they are. Look at it this way, if and only if you actually owe money and your accounts are in collections, are you going to be stupid to call them back? "Yes ..! this is John Smith and you've left a message for me ... Chew my rear end now ...! A person whose accounts are in collections, don't own a personal permanent home phone account.

I have been in the collection business for 25 yrs, and I will tell you the consumer that you call to pay a bill usually lies when sending in a complaint. I have personally experienced this, so I speak fact.

I had a debtor tell me they were gonna put a cap in my head.. used so much vulgarity it was ridiculous, I asked her to pay her 48.00 medical bill. She called the client the next day and stated I threatened her and used vulgarity towards her and of course she was the victim. Abt two weeks later we recvd a letter from the same debtor, stating she will not pay and called us all filthy names, I immediately forwarded this to our client to show her what type of person this liar was.

I have never used intimidation nor threats to get someone to pay their bill, if the balance warrants a lawsuit and they don't pay, I will sue it. If the balance doesn't warrant a law suit, I will not continue to waste my time and I'll let it sit on their bureau until they have to pay it.

So please don't believe all the consumers because the majority of them are liars, they is why they are in collections to begin with, not paying their bills and making false promises to do so..

Tired of Rudeness replies to collection mgr
Most Consumers are not liars.  Not paying a debt does not make someone a liar.  Considering 8.2% of the American Population is unemployed...and this does not take into consideration the people who cannot collect unemployments, such as business owners and sole proprietors, most people right now are not paying their debt bc they cannot afford to do so!!!

When someone calls me over a debt, that I am williing to make payments on, but threatens that they will OWN my house, bc I have asked for something in writing...I have a major issue with that.  Unfortuantely these tactics work on many borrowers, bc they are not educated enough to know the laws of their state.

I have received repeated calls from this number with a recorded man's voice calling himself "Michael Nelson." The recording says I should call back at the given number. I don't know what this is about, and it's annoying, rude and invasive.
I have a policy to not return unidentified calls, so I don't.
I have had experience with collectors in the past and know that some stretch the limits of the law at best and are criminals, without regard of the law, at worst.

I have all three of these numbers on a hand written page. Mr. Nelson 1-866-756-3912.  West Assett Management 1-800-860-2099. and Andrea Jacobs 1-800-355-0333 X240.Please contact your Attorney General's Office for Fair Debt Collection Practices, as some of these individuals are nothing but warranted criminals, looking for prey. They are now sticking black market phone jacks into their computers to make poisonous calls to people and posing as debt collectors.

Computer crimes hold a severe penalty in any state and so do Federal Communications Commissions fishing charges.
