- Dylan Quincey| 5 repliesI got an email from "Ivan Castagno" about Obama's Student Loan Forgiveness Program. It's about the 5th one I have gotten. I have marked the previous 4 as SPAM, so they keep sending it with differing email addys. Called the 866-764-4324 number to have some fun. He started asking basic info like name and such. Gave him fake info. He asked for address, social security number, high school attended, so I definitely gave him all fake stuff there. I actually gave him the address of a police station as my home address. I kept asking him questions, like, who is this "Ivan Castagno" guy who sent the email? What is your companies website? Nothing was panning out. The website was there, but it was obviously owned by a domain squatter, not a real company, because there were vague links concerning Student Loans on it. He asked my mother's Maiden name, I said Frankie. He asked the color of my first car, I said "pink". He laughed. So did I. Then he asked for a secret question that I could make up myself that only I will know the answer to. I said, okay, "What is the name of the agency that investigates Student Loan Fraud?" He laughed again, but it was more of a nervous laugh now. He said "Are you serious?" I said "Yes, I am serious", and repeated my question slowly. I heard him typing away. Then he asked, "Okay, so what is the answer to your secret question?" I paused for effect. "I don't know yet," I replied, "I am still looking that info up online as we speak." I then told him to stop wasting my time, that I called him and wasted his time on purpose, that all the info I gave was fake, and that I knew he was not a real company. He kept apologizing. Instead of saying "No, sir, we are a legitimate company", he just tried to get off the phone ASAP, and hung up quickly.
