Message from Microsoft:Quote:Remember, Microsoft will never proactively reach out to you to provide unsolicited PC or technical support. Any communication we have with you must be initiated by you.
Cybercriminals often use publicly available phone directories, so they might know your name and other personal information when they call you. They might even guess what operating system you're using.
Once they've gained your trust, they might ask for your user name and password or ask you to go to a legitimate website (such as www.ammyy.com) to install Remote Access software that will let them access your computer to pretend to fix it. Once you do this, your computer and your personal information are vulnerable.
Do not trust unsolicited calls. Do not provide any personal information. Do not allow them access.

- EdwardI received an error message to contact Apple support at phone number 1 844 711 8666. I called and hung up by unintentionally. Then ‘Harvey’ called me back from 866 800 1811 and told me that I was hacked and was actually hacked 10 days ago and am only receiving the message on safari today. He stated that my IP address was showing Canada (I live in Toronto) and Russia. He told me I need to purchase firewall/security protection through Apple. He was pressuring me into the purchase for ‘at least $300 USD’. Unfortunately I gave him my email address. I told him I needed to talk to my partner before making a decision. I was suspicious and searched both number and found that others received the same call. I ‘Harvey’ called me back and I told him that this is a scam and I was not giving him any information and told him to f-off. He got angry and told me me to f-off as well and called me an Italian [***] (I’m of Italian descent). DO NOT GIVE ANY INFORMATION TO THE CALLER!
