Message from DTE Energy stating I needed to call 866-800-1968, but was patched through 800-477-4747. This is a scam and are claiming you are in arrears. Do not contact them back. DTE Energy's only number is 800-477-4747.

Same type of call as above.

This SCAM left a message on my home phone - so don't fall for it.

Same # called our house was a message to call DTE it  was urgent, used my husbands name.  All our bills are paid .  Caller I D says call is from DTE.  I believe this is a scam too. Did not call back googled this and that’s why I’m here.

Do not call back like the above comments!  We closed today on a house we sold.  I spoke to DTE 2 days ago and arranged their sevice to be stopped today and to have our final bill sent to our new residence.  The previous bill was also paid (on time).  This “fishy” urgent call I received today just happens to fall on the same day as our closing day; which tells me the scammers have some sort of access to DTE’s records.  Scary!

Caller ID says DTE Gas Field HaHaHa what a joke

Got this call, didn't answer heard the voice mail, and thought it was fishy that they'd ask you to call a completely different number plus there is nothing "urgent" they'd need to call me about. Which brought me here.

Caller left phone message, purported to be from DTE and even knew my wife’s name, but something sounded odd since we have no “urgent” condition here. Our payments are up to date.  Out of caution I googled the number and found numerous scam warnings. They may have some inside intel: It may be no coincidence that DTE is scheduled to replace our gas meter tomorrow.

Called from the actual DTE number then the message said to call the 1968 number, I contacted DTE directly and looked at my account online. I have a zero balance. This is a scam!

Moved to Michigan this week and JUST set up services with DTE over the phone. LESS THAN 2 HOURS LATER I got a call and voicemail from these scammers. The DEFINITELY have access to our info from DTE. Just know whatever info you’ve given to DTE is compromised.

Or simply this happened to be the week they are calling everyone.  Since many others have reported calls today both DTE customers and non DTE customers then it that was all it was.

Oh, and when you say they had "info" that could have only been gotten from DTE what was it?  Your name, address, and full account number?

Got a call from these low life losers and it showed is was coming from DTE which it wasn't.  These clowns are scammers.

DTE scheduled to come change my meter on Thursday, got this call/recording on Tuesday. "call us right away about your account, urgent" etc. I guess this scam is alive and well.

Same thing happened to me! Closed on my house 5 days ago and just received this call. Scared me because I just talked to DTE about switching stuff around. Scary they know this info.

I normally don't report such numbers as potential scams or telemarketers but this one deserves attention.  They left a message saying they were from DTE and that there was a problem with my account.  NORMALLY I'd dismiss this as illegit and not think much about it, even though it showed up as DTE GAS FIELD on the caller i.d., but the reason I didn't was because it just so happened to be on the same day DTE was scheduled to inspect my meter.  Like others have mentioned, this means it is someone who works at DTE or has access to DTE information.

Just got same urgent call today about my DTE account and to call 866-800-1968.  Suspected a scam so googled number and got this sight.  DTE was out yesterday and are scheduled to replace water heater Wednesday.
