Microsoft scam. Says that your microsoft service on your machine has been disabled and to call.

I got a call whose number was listed as a long string of multiple zeros.  They left a message on my voicemail claiming that they were Microsoft and my service was disabled.  866 800 4198 is the number they told me to call.  It's pretty obvious scam.

Got a call today from this number,, with no called id, telling me that Microsoft Windows on my computer expired. Asked me to call back, but I am not calling back a number I don't recognize!

Clearly a scam. It is a computer-generated voice that claims "Your Microsoft Windows key has expired and Microsoft has disabled the Windows services on your computer. Please call back to renew your license and reinstate service"  This is not how Windows licenses work.

Same as everyone else please do not call this number! The number they were calling from came up as unknown on my cell phone.

Called at 8:27 am from Toll Free 1-866-800-4198; had not had my coffee yet so was not in a good mood.  Caller ID read "Toll Free" which is always a good tip off that the call is a scam.  Computer generated woman's voice left a message and repeated it several times on the answering machine stating my Microsoft key had expired.... blah, blah, blah.  You know with all the resources Microsoft has why can't they track these A.. holes down with their extensive security services and hang them by the short hairs?  We get calls like this all the time saying they are from Microsoft and our computer is screwed up when it is not yet like everyone reporting here we public are helpless to do anything about it.  Microsoft has office and staff all over the world; surely they could track these scammers down in India, China, Russia or where ever they are calling from and put a stop to this but like the USA government, they simply refuse to do anything about it.

My thoughts EXACTLY!! (well, not word for word, but I said something very similar in another post, it isn't like its hard to find them, ask AT&T who it is registered to, and... go get them)

Well, when Microsoft has found them they have done something about it.  Of course that would have been way too much trouble for you to check into, being that the internet is such a very, very, very hard place to locate information on.

And here folks we have another person who thinks that all they have to do is keep them on the line for 10 seconds and they can trace the number.

They just called me too, on my office cell.  It is definitely a SCAM and do NOT call them back.

Same old scam, over and over.  Apparently they're getting some suckers to bite on it.
