Was it a real open call?

Interesting timing for me because I've been looking around and applying for agenecies lastely However, I found this suspicious as they never acknowledged me by my name, their company name, and the phone number appeared as "8668229401" and NOT "866-822-9401". Weird.

Kim: "Hi I'm Kim, I got your Talent Application earlier & want you to attend an Online Open Call tomorrow at either 9am, 1pm or 3pm. Which time is good for you?"
Me: "Hey Kim! I've applied to a few things recently, can you remind me to what this is for specifically?"
Kim: "This is for an evaluation to see if you would be a good fit for the castings we have available, Can you attend?"

Text me from time to time, stated want to set up an Open Call on Zoom

I got the same message. Still wondering if it’s legit or not.

They gave me more information the same Kim is tecting me the same 3 times as well but i asked which company she came from an she finally gave an answer! she said its the nine9 an entertainment company i guess that is supposed to connect "talent" with projects and castings that need them. Im not sure it looks sketch

(866) 822-9401 TEXTED me and said they have a position open, or “we received your application”

I also received a txt message with the following:

Hey I'm Kim, I got your Talent Application and want you to attend an Online Open Call tomorrow at 11am or 1pm. Which time is good for you?

I did not reply back.

I gotten this “ Hi I'm Kim, I got your Talent Application and want you to attend a Virtual Open Call on Monday morning at 10am. Does that time work for you?“ We are Nine9, an entertainment company that connects talent

Looks like complaints on the talent scouting here began near the start of last year, after nearly a decade of thread dormancy. The offers from "Kim" are vague and indiscriminate, far more like a cattle call than an invitation. The scent of fraud clouds them already. Thanks to Tatiana, we can easily support this suspicion with warnings and complaints against Nine9 Talent.

No surprise to me, it's characterized as an advance fee scheme which often rebrands and/or aliases itself. The general racket is to hose the gullible and starry-eyed for obscene fees to join the club. This supposedly buys exposure to Big Names who have never heard of the so-well connected scout team. When not charged blatant fees, victims are roped into expensive photo shoots, seminars, and coaching deals. Invariably the paid "experts" are semi-convincing hacks. Again they provide worse than casino odds of scoring the coveted big break, and the "agency" can always blame its victims for not buying .... erm, not trying hard enough.

Real artists and entertainers consider "pay to play" shops unethical at best. Real agents are paid on the back end, after the job is secured. Rather gives them proper motivation, yes?

They keep texting me about an open call for Talent but I really don't believe it's a true talent agency since I've already signed up with real talent agencies before

I just got the same text.  Once I realized it wasn’t who I thought it was I asked who they are.  I called the number and it was an answering service named Kim and her voicemail told me to respond to the texts
