I, too, received an automated phone call from area code 972 (Dallas, TX area) claiming to be CitiBank, telling me to phone 866-827-9065 and enter a 6-digit "personal passcode" (which they gave me) regarding my Shell credit card account.  Rather than call the 866 phone number (which I suspected might be fraud), I went to CitiBank's website and found an 800 number for CitiBank customer service. After several verification questions on their part and mine, It turned out to be LEGITIMATE CALL from CitiBank Collections Dept that services Shell credit card customers.  it seems that I had missed a payment on my Shell credit card (because I never received the bill).  They reversed the late charges and accepted payment of the current and past due balance over the phone -- charged to the same checking account that I normally make my payments from. The customer service rep also took my complaint about the secretive wording of the original automated message that caused so much suspicion.

Received call with key code.  When returned call was told we have outstanding balance of over $500.  We do not have any credit cards or accounts with Citibank.  Call sounded very professional.  Was easy to be fooled into calling back.  Recommend you not return calls from this number.

We just found out that our cities, such as Baltimore, are full of rats.  Now I notice that our telephones are also filled with rats that think they are calling a pay phone on a dirt road.  Listen rats, do not call private telephones paid for by customers.  They did not install their telephones for you to use.  It is unfortunate that the telephone company, like Cummings, does not arrest these rats that invade the privacy of Americans.

Same for me. I set up autopay for my Shell card and because of a 1 digit account number mistake it didn't take. I called the Shell number on the back and got the same Citibank servicing center. Like you, they corrected my autopay and credited my no payment charge. Also, my call had Unknown Name as Caller ID which is why I didn't answer it. Moral, research and proceed with caution. And ignore some comments here from the clueless.

spectrum blocked the call after 1 ring which is a sign of a robo-caller and or scammer. the caller id was just a repeat of the number. if the call was from a legit company they would not hide their identity.

Caller ID indicated call was coming from, “Account Services,” so I answered. The automated recording said it was Citibank calling about my Wawa credit card. I hung up because I have no such account.

Got 4 missed calls from 866-827-9065 saying this is Card Holder Services asking me to call back this number. When I called back I was greeted by a male representative saying he's from Citi Bank. He asked me for my 4 last digits of my card Citi Card account which I didn't give and he then asked me for my 4 last digits of my Social Security Card number still I didn't give him, and so I asked to speak to his Manager and he put me on hold with musics for a long time with no one coming on the phone. He sounds very nervous and unprofessional unlike the customer representative from the real bank.
