This was a number left on my answer machine saying  "this is your visa card provider.  You have had some suspicious activity on your card.  Please call so we can confirm this activity or protect you from fraud."
I called the number.  The automated voice tells me it is a Fraud prevtion division of Visa.  Please enter my 16 digit card number....as soon as they asked for all 16 digits....I knew it was a scam.  I immediately called the phone number on the back of my Visa.  They confirmed it was not them or anyone connected with them.

I received the same message from the same number.  When I called my bank they said yes the number was valid and confirmed the conversation I had with the person at that number.  They were Visa Fraud Protection and I thanked them.

I received the same phone call regarding Visa Fraud Protection. I wanted to be cautious, so I contacted Visa directly and was directed to the proper BancFirst Visa Fraud Protection number where there were flags on purchases that I needed to authorize. This call seems to be legitimate even though the procedure seems questionable.

I received a message from this number saying the same thing. Looked it up online, then called. System asked for my card number which I did not give and was transferred to a person. She asked a couple of questions to verify I was me then asked if I had made a purchase at walmart and what-a-donut the previous day. After I told her I had, she asked if I had any questions. I asked why those two transactions had been flagged and she said they had not. She told me that 5 days earlier there had been two purchases at braums, one in the morning and one in the afternoon. She explained that if someone finds a card, they will often try it out where they found it before going on to 7-11 for gas, walmart for groceries, etc. Both of those purchases were me but this called seemed legit and I found it reassuring as well that they pay attention like that. :)

called and left a message saying they were from visa fraud protection. I felt better after reading this and seeing you don't have to leave your card number and all so I called. I'm glad I did. They had found where someone tried to take 98 something dollars out 3 times today. I am on a fixed income (disability) and this would have made us overdrawn and taken a bunch of money out of next month's check. They stopped it and listed it as fraud and so we are getting a new card. They checked another transaction that actually was mine too. Made me feel better. Scary to know we nearly lost a bunch of money.

This is legitimate.  I had rang up about 2K worth of purchases from Amazon.com on my BancFirst Visa and they were calling to verify.

Received a call from this number, let it got to voice mail.  Said it was Visa Card Prevention.  I called back and rather than put my card number in I opted for talking to an operator and let them verify me without it.  I had a transaction flagged because it was outside my normal range of usage.  I have verified this number with my bank and it's legitimate.  I really appreciated them checking on it; gives a sense of security.

I have recieved four calls in the last twelve hours from this number.  It is the same as stated above-from Visa fraud protection from bancfirst etc.  They are asking for account information.  Of course I won't give them that, that is just stupid.  I tried to call bancfirst to verify, but no one will answer since it is Memorial Weekend.  However I checked my account online and have NO activity whatsoever on my card, so unlike others that have had activity that they verified or discounted I don't have it.  So I am treating it as a scam.  As always, I would recommend NEVER giving information to people who contact you.

Received call from 8668403793. I called back later and it was the Fraud Prevention Services for Bank First. I do not do business with Bank First but other members of family do. I did not proceed beyond this point.

It's a legit #.  However, the transaction the automated service said that they had flagged was under a category instead of the actual merchant so I pushed the button to say that I had NOT authorized the transaction.  This put a hold on my card.  When I called back and spoke to a live person (by pressing "0" at the beginning of the recording), the operator verified the actual merchant which was an actual charge that I had made.  They then removed the hold on my card.

Its a Fraud prevention service associated with Visa and BancFirst.  They only asked to verify certain pieces of information on my accout, which couldnt be used in any type of scam.  Unless they wanted to start sending me junk mail.  But they started the information and asked me to finish it.  Example: They told me the city and state I lived in but asked me to verify the zip code.

They stated that "unusual" charges are flagged and needed to be authorized, due to the amount of unauthorized purchases being reported.  Mostly internet purchases are flagged but if all of a sudden there is a few hundred or thousand dollar charged when you usually spend under $100 they flag those and call for verification.

The number is legit. I have a BancFirst card and a few months ago, someone stole my cc number and tried to use it. A call came from 866-840-3793, asking me to verify purchases. Of course I declined the charges through the automated system and called BancFirst to verify the information and number after, at which time they said something had, in fact, been flagged.

John is correct.  I too have Banc First. They monitor several different companies for fraud prevention. I had mad a $30 purchase on iTines which was off my normal spending pattern. You don't have to give your card number. Just verify you arethe card holder with the standard security questions.

I also received a call from them regarding a charge at Target on my Visa. I do not even have a Visa card. They said it was opened in June but I didn't apply for the card.
