    :)
     They said they were filing civil suites for a past due credit card he said his name was phil thomas from foster and monroe law firm however he wouldnt give a physical address all he would give was a po box number. Called the court house in which they claimed they filed in and the docket number he provided was to long. And she had no idea who phil thomas even was!!! He had no idea where we were at he thought we were 10 hours away from their location in bufflo ny and we are only 3 hours from them. If they were filing a suite shouldnt they know where to find us? My husband is active duty army and stationed in ft drum. Thats why they said where they were filing in the county post is on. However its 3 hours away from them. This doesnt add up and we are thinking money scam!! Oh and the Bbb doesnt have that law firm on file!! Don't send these people money! They threatened that this was going through his chain of command yet no one knows anything about it? Hmmm careful guys

    I had a message on my phone for my dad with this phone number. 1-866-841-9339 ext 1009. Lawsuit file MY-55332653. For a  man named my dad, age 23. Thing was is that my dad was 56 years old when he died 3 years ago from sudden heart attack. Not sure if this is a phone scam or something legit so I am calling the cops tomorrow and have them check into it. I've had my computer hacked into once already and I am just praying that this isn't some <bleep!> stealing my dad's identity. I am in the state of Michigan in case anyone is wondering.

    West Seneca, NY 14224

    Don't know if this is the same people who called you, but if it is you can send them a cease and desist request.

    Report them to local police and attorney general.  Seems New York is a focal point for debt scammers.

    Another address they have is:

    Foster And Monroe LLC,
    550 Center Road,
    West Seneca,
    NY 14224

    I checked out this address on Google Maps.  Grungy office building in a run-down area.  Typical of where these kitchen-table scammers work out of.

    I spoke with these people and told them the person they left a message for was not me and do not call me again. The so called supervisor who answered the phone David Michael Anthony, which I am sure is a made up name, said you are telling me not to call again you are being very unprofessional, Really, I do not work a scam line, than he had the nerve to call me ignorant. This company is a very rude organization and should be made to stop harassing people

    The Federal Trade Commission (FTC), the nation's consumer protection agency, is warning consumers to be on the alert for scam artists posing as debt collectors. It may be hard to tell the difference between a legitimate debt collector and a fake one. Sometimes a fake collector may even have some of your personal information, like a bank account number. A caller may be a fake debt collector if he:

    •is seeking payment on a debt for a loan you do not recognize;
    •refuses to give you a mailing address or phone number;
    •asks you for personal financial or sensitive information; or
    •exerts high pressure to try to scare you into paying, such as threatening to have you arrested or to report you to a law enforcement agency.

    If you think that a caller may be a fake debt collector:

    •Ask the caller for his name, company, street address, and telephone number. Tell the caller that you refuse to discuss any debt until you get a written "validation notice." The notice must include the amount of the debt, the name of the creditor you owe, and your rights under the federal Fair Debt Collection Practices Act.
    If a caller refuses to give you all of this information, do not pay! Paying a fake debt collector will not always make them go away. They may make up another debt to try to get more money from you.•Stop speaking with the caller. If you have the caller's address, send a letter demanding that the caller stop contacting you, and keep a copy for your files. By law, real debt collectors must stop calling you if you ask them to in writing.
    •Do not give the caller personal financial or other sensitive information. Never give out or confirm personal financial or other sensitive information like your bank account, credit card, or Social Security number unless you know whom you're dealing with. Scam artists, like fake debt collectors, can use your information to commit identity theft – charging your existing credit cards, opening new credit card, checking, or savings accounts, writing fraudulent checks, or taking out loans in your name.
    •Contact your creditor. If the debt is legitimate – but you think the collector may not be – contact your creditor about the calls. Share the information you have about the suspicious calls and find out who, if anyone, the creditor has authorized to collect the debt.
    •Report the call. Contact the FTC and your state Attorney General's office with information about suspicious callers. Many states have their own debt collection laws in addition to the federal FDCPA. Your Attorney General's office can help you determine your rights under your state's law.
