- JMExtremely rude and relentless. I told them that they've got the wrong number and continued to call for 2 months! They said that they would remove the number multiple times but still continued to call.

- Jimbo| 5 repliesEncore has been calling me from 866-843-5013 on a daily basis, looking for a Jessica, whom I do not know and could not have had my phone number in the past five years.
Every time we asked a CSR to make the correction, they hung up on us.
I called and asked for a supervisor. Spoke with Travis, who hung up on me as well. Called him again and told him there was no Jessica and this was harassment if he continued. He said he'd remove my number then hung up. Called him back and asked him what my number was. He didn't know.
I gave him my number and he promised me he'd make the correction.
Calls stopped for a couple of days then returned.
Right now, I'm trying to waste as much time of theirs as I can, but I'm at wit's end.
I've e-mailed the FTC and the NYS Attorney General about this. I've called them, waited for an answer, put them on hold and let the phone sit. They call back and hang up on me.- Caller: Encore Receivables Management

- PJ| 1 replyI've been getting calls (4)from this number. Doesn't leave message on answering machine, when I answer there's nobody there or at times a pause and someone says hello. When I ask to id themselves they hang up. When I called the number back a notaryia answered and wouldn't tell me anything but her name. She wouldn't say what company she represents or why she was calling. She started asking me questions and if I was or new someone else. I told her I'm not that person and I don't want them calling me again.

- Angry parent| 1 replyMy 11 year old daughter explained to me that this 866 number keeps calling her cell phone while she is in school, so I called the number back and tried to explain to someone named Scott that this company was harrassing my minor daughter. I gave my daughters cell number to the person I reached and asked that he stop calling my daughter or I would turn the company into the police department. This person "Scott" said in order to resolve this problem he needed my daughters name. I reitterated to him that my daughter is only 11 and that I would not give him her name, not in this day and age with so much child abuse going on the internet etc. He insisted that unless I gave him her name, he would not resolve the problem and they would continue to call and harrass my daughter. I explained again that the cell number account is in my name as I am the adult and he said he must get her name so that he can check if she has an account with them and again I explained to "Scott" that my daughter is only 11 and could not possibly have an account. I want this company to stop harrassing my 11yr old daughter. I do not understand why the problem of this company calling a minor's cell number can not be resolved with only the number that they are calling. when I asked what service this company provides he said he would not give me that information. So now I am very angry that this man expects me to give him my childs name and he wonj't tell me why he keeps calling her. My daughter coundted the calls and there are 18. Realizing that I was not going to get anywhere with this man, I hung up and called back and spoke with a lady who was more helpful although she would not tell me what service this company provided, she said that she could look up the number being called so I gave her the cell number and she asked if my daughters name was the name she has on file as belonging to this number, which it was not. Then she asked if that name was my name and it was not, so she said they would not be calling anymore. This morning I called the number back to speak to a manager nad this person "Bob" said that he too can not tell my what service this company provides. So here I am. I googled it and am not surprised that it is a collection company considering the treatment from the horrible man I spoke with at first, who should be disclined for insisting that he get personal information of a minor girl. That is sick, inapropriate and moraly wrong.

- annoyedbycalls| 1 replyThey will call and call I hang up on them and then they turn around and call right back....want leave messages on answering machine. My son asked them if they were telemarketers they just hung up. He even asked them to stop calling....but to no avail....
- temporary relief solutionFolks, These people who call incorrigible. I have a solution which will work. Get a cell phone which can accomodate mulitple ring tones. Set the ring tone of this number or any unwanted calls like"unknown" to silent ring.

- Anonym| 1 replyDon't call me again. This [***] does not leave a message and calls my cellphone all hours of the night. I called back once and they said it was for my daughter. She has never given out my cellphone # to anyone. She doesn't even live in the United States and has not for about a year and does not have any debt. They continue to call even though I told them not to.
- kfarbs| 1 replyI keep getting calls from this number, most of the time it is at inconvenient times so I have not answered. I get at least 2 calls a day so yesterday I answered & no one was there. This morning I answered it again and no one was there. I would have no reason to get calls from a collection agency so I have to assume it is a wrong number, but they don't even give me a chance to tell them to stop calling. I will try to set a silent ring as mentioned above.

- another angry parent| 2 repliesMy child had the same situation as above..5 calls while in school..when I called the number back the girl who answered was extremely nasty and when I asked for info she hung up..I called again and the young man was nicer but would not give me any information but did mention a client's name (Brian Gilbert, I believe) who gave them our number..but then when realizing he gave out couldn't tell me anything else..I asked to speak with supervisor Shawn who was extremely nasty I told him we were on the no call list..he told me that did not apply to them..then I said I was calling the police and he said to go ahead..then hung up..I called the Better Business Bureau...they can only take a complaint if you have a full address...so that is what I am doing next..it is very interesting that everyone is having the same problem and it seems no one can do anything about it.. I am entitled to my privacy and I am not done with them yet!!!!!

The BBB is a nice start, but they have no law enforcement authority. I suggest you also file a complaint with the Federal Trade Commission here: https://rn.ftc.gov/pls/dod/wsolcq$.startup?Z_ORG_CODE=PU01 Then file a complaint with your state's attorney general and the Kansas attorney general (since that's where Encore is based.)

- ShiapepI've only gotten called 2 days now. It's been during school, so I can't answer. I'm getting them on my tracfone, though-- which is weird. The first time they called 3 times in a row, then the second only once. I got home to call them back and it was a recording, telling me I had reached the Conference Center and asking me for a Code, which I don't have. They said for Tech Assist, dial *1, and when I did nothing happened. It's irritating and a little worrying.
