After picking up the phone the other end disconnected immediately with no offer to explain why the call was placed or any way to remove from list.

this company has been calling my home phone for a couple of months, sometimes several times a day. When I ignore it, the voice mail kicks in and no message is ever left. When the phone is answered, it disconnects. At first I thought it was some company trying to find out when most people answer their phones. I would like to have this stopped.

I get the same calls, as above.  This doesn't help us if someone doesn't know how to stop them.

Twice a person came on the line and said he/she was from the Retired Sheriff's Association and wanted to speak to my husband because he had given a donation in the past.  I said we would not be contributing this year and would they please not call again.  Since then, we have received eight calls from this number.  Some have nobody on the line.

Same here.  They call all the time and either the voice mail picks up and it immediately disconnects or I answer and say hello a few times with no answer.  I wish it would stop.

I also receive phone calls at least 3 a day from this number and we also donated to the retired Sheriff's association a while back. I wonder if maybe it was an automatic call center they used and they are now no longer using it but it is still making uncontrolled calls somehow.
