I received a vm where a guy said he will come thursday to serve me papers and gave me this number to call with a reference number

I received the same call...doesn't reference his company or who he's representing....sound like a scam to me

I just got the same call... called them back, asked them for their company name and address to validate the debt owed- they refused to give it to me.  

According to the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act:

§ 809.  Validation of debts   [15 USC 1692g]
(a) Within five days after the initial communication with a consumer in connection with the collection of any debt, a debt collector shall, unless the following information is contained in the initial communication or the consumer has paid the debt, send the consumer a written notice containing --

(1) the amount of the debt;

(2) the name of the creditor to whom the debt is owed;

(3) a statement that unless the consumer, within thirty days after receipt of the notice, disputes the validity of the debt, or any portion thereof, the debt will be assumed to be valid by the debt collector;

(4) a statement that if the consumer notifies the debt collector in writing within the thirty-day period that the debt, or any portion thereof, is disputed, the debt collector will obtain verification of the debt or a copy of a judgment against the consumer and a copy of such verification or judgment will be mailed to the consumer by the debt collector; and

(5) a statement that, upon the consumer's written request within the thirty-day period, the debt collector will provide the consumer with the name and address of the original creditor, if different from the current creditor.

(b) If the consumer notifies the debt collector in writing within the thirty-day period described in subsection (a) that the debt, or any portion thereof, is disputed, or that the consumer requests the name and address of the original creditor, the debt collector shall cease collection of the debt, or any disputed portion thereof, until the debt collector obtains verification of the debt or any copy of a judgment, or the name and address of the original creditor, and a copy of such verification or judgment, or name and address of the original creditor, is mailed to the consumer by the debt collector.

(c) The failure of a consumer to dispute the validity of a debt under this section may not be construed by any court as an admission of liability by the consumer.

I received a call this morning saying I would be served a summons today. I called my county sherrifs office to see if there was ANYTHING in there system that has a legal matter to do with me. NOTHING.   dont let these guys scare you into paying them.

I received a call from this number and another number but with this as the call back number. I was given the names Josh Walker and Richard Greco (head of security at legal support services). They are claiming I took out a loan and only paid $15 on it before closing my account. They somehow have my fathers number (wouldn't have put him as a reference seeing as at that time we were estranged), they have my Social security number and my drivers license number. They have threatened to arrest me and have my local sheriffs office pick me up and book me. They say they need $674.98 but they are willing to settle it for $315 if I pay now or 3 payments of $224.99 if I give them my ATM card info. They have called my father telling him I wrote a bad check and spoken with his wife and given out my social and license numbers. I am going to check into this and sue them for giving out such private information.

My wife received a call from this number 866-853-2226.......the voice mail stated that I owed money and that if not settled within 5days, a court summons would be issued..........I am in the process of reporting them

I got the same call.......must be a scam

L/M on my work VM, stating they needed to speak to me regarding a returned item from my checking account.  They quoted some vague State and Federal regulation, that they will proceed with court filings if i don't respond.  Suffice it to say, the last time there was ever a returned item from my checking account was well over 4 years ago and it was dealt with 4 years ago.  Total scammers.  

jacobs arbitrations is who.they claimed to be on my vm and they only callee once nothing since they 866# just says leave a msg since i called ay 830 pm lol total scam i havent had anything returned from my bank since about 2 yrs ago and it was handled then. Liars ! Not calling them bck thanks for all the feed back guys, disregard these folks.

Received a phone call and message on my home line from Jacobs Arbitration & Associates, (844) 628-9490.  Message was left for someone whom I know, but does not live at my address.  Call back number was (866) 853-2226.  Message stated that a summons was going to be issued to my address.  For what I don't know.  So I called back the (866) number and they gave me a docket number and an attorney name of Brian Connor.  I hung up and then called back 10 minutes later stating the docket number and that I wanted their full business name and address.  All I got from "Regina" who answered the call was that the name of their business was J & R Litigation and they were located in Texas.  When she asked me if I was an attorney and would I be representing my friend in this matter I replied "Yes, now please give me your full address and all contact information."  They immediately hung up the phone.  This is a TOTAL SCAM.

Yes total scam .called said I.. have return item in my bank account.. HMM I REPLY I.. DONT HAVE A BANK ACCOUNT.. IMMEDIATELY HUNG UP !!! TOTAL SCAMM

Received a call from 8442909929 was given a case number. When I called the number back, whomever answered the front desk phone never acknowledge the company name or their own name but asked for the case number. I was then sent to some other lady in whom her name wasn't bien but she immediately asked me if I was me and start giving me ally personal info. She stated I owe something ever since 2011 and she has a summons on her desk that she was looking out right now to send out in the next 24-48hrs. She was quick to keep talking but very rude when I tried to ask questions. She told me a super high amount of what was being owe due to so called court fees etc. She offered me a chasettle  settle the matter and all of a sudden the summons deal was off the table. I called back to get the company's name and address, the guy I spoke with said they are J&R litigation but never an address. He said they were a mediator company as well. Smh idk what is going on but I smell scam all on this one.

I got a call and then voicemail from a private number saying that i needed to immediately remove all firearms and pets from my home because theyre coming to investigate, and said it was on behalf of my late husbands mother (who hates me but continuously puts me down as a reference on credit applications?) I tried calling back the number they left and they said they dont know anything at all about whats going on!

Recieved private phone call Brian was going to come to my house and make me sign legal documents. I had to have Id and a witness. He gave me a case number for Summit County, called clerk of courts, no case number, the clerck even stated that the case number I was given is not how they start. She advised me this was probably fraudulent. I called the number 800-501-2231. They had my name and my mothers name as well as my address. For some payday loan for 200$ I am not able to recieve payday loans because of my military status. So be advised this is a fraudulent company. When I asked why wouldnt it be on my credit report from 2011-2017 no reason was given. Soooo....do not pay this company

I received the same phone call to by a Brian Clark.  Stated he is a process server for Denton County in Texas.  I live nowhere close to Denton County and have NEVER done any business out there.  Gave me a case number starting with USA.... Told me to call 800-501-2231 to reschedule a time to receive the "legal papers". Smh.
