They called asking for my husband, so it seemed legit. But when they wanted to "check" his socialsecurity number, I got suspicious and suggested they call him directly (and gave office #). He never heard from them, of course. My hunch is these people are part of a telecommunications "cramming" scam. They get your correct name, phone number, and other identifying info (they don't need much, amazingly) then pretend you've ordered various telecommunications services and start billing you MONTHLY on your cell or local phone bill. Yes, they are permitted by law to do this. The FCC in its wisdom -- supposedly to prevent telephone monopolies -- has been requiring the larger companies (AT&T, Verizon, etc) to let smaller outide telecommunications providers bill through them, so the charges for these fraulent services you never ordered show up under somethinginnocent like "outside providers." They don't charge much monthly -- typically $14.99 -- so many consumers don't even notice, but just multiply $14.99 times 12 months a year times millions of customers -- well, you see the potential. CHECK YOUR MONTHLY BILL carefully forcharges from these fraudulent third-party outside providers. I contacted the FCC, the Attorney General's office, Better Business, etc. The FCC was useless and just sent me info on how to protect myself from "cramming" ( you can ask your phone company to block all third party outside providers from billing) and the AG did contact the telecom providers involved to ask for explanations, but all that yielded was letters from these phonies saying, so sorry, our records indicate you ordered their products online on such-and-such a date, but they'd be happy to reimburse you and close the account. And the scam moves on to the next unsuspecting consumer. BEWARE!!

I've been getting calls on my cellphone at random times of the day (including 8:30AM Saturday!) from 866-854-2113.  A robot then tells me to call back on a different toll-free number or press 9 to be connected to someone.  Pressing 9 put me on perma-hold, so I hung up (not wanting to waste my cellphone minutes) and called back on the 854-2113 number using SKYPE.

The call was immediately answered by a human being who quite politely said she'd remove my number, once we established that the person they were looking for had a different middle initial and different address from me.

I thanked her and did point out that there was a whole thread of complaints about them online from people who had tried unsuccessfully to get their numbers removed and she assured me that it would happen, but usually takes 1-2 days to go through.

I also asked for their company name which is "Professional Recovery Services."

If calls keep coming after a few days wait, I will file complaint with the FTC, since they so not identify themselves on the initial call, which is already a violation.

PS - I've also gotten calls concurrently from 000-000-0000 asking for the same first and last name and wrong middle initial.  Don't know if this is another collection agency or another office of the same agency, but blocking their caller ID (thereby giving you no way to ID them or call back except by staying on line) is -- I'm pretty sure -- a violation of the FTC rules.

Yes, I heard that cramming was a big problem until one of the sleazebags called a US Senator as the intended victim and she raised quite a bit of hell about it; it was a few years ago.

PRS called from Ph# 866-854-2113 to my room mate's cell phone number on November 08, 20110 which I called there sorry [***] back from that number on  November 08, 2010 and got the Account Number then hung up and put the Account Number in their website message board and stated that I needed to see documentation for the debt in question and included my Email address.
The next day I received on November 09, 2010 I received an Email from
"Mark Davidson - Assistant Vice President - Portfolio Recovery Associates" stating that "This is a very old Citibank VISA account that dates back to 1988. After further review of this account, supporting documents are no longer available from Citibank. Therefore the account has been closed and there will be no further collection activity regarding this account. I considered this to be a settled matter.
TODAY - December 14, 2010 I'm told that they called again on my room mate's other cell phone. A completely different number. They didn't leave a voice mail message but the number came up in the phone.  I tried calling them from his other phone and got a voice mail so I hung up... I'm sure they will see the number that called on caller I.D. and will call be calling again.  This is [***] !!!!  Guess I will have to get in touch will the All Mighty President of the F-in company and ride his ASS until this straightened out once and for all and FOR GOOD!!!
I am open to ANY suggestions that anyone has because this is about to drive me CRAZY !!!
    Thanks.

I just received a call from this phone number.  I call them back because they say is to important.  When I call back they do not explain that kind of business they represent.  They are asking for personal information before identifying themselves.  So Mr. Flaming do not got nothing.  For any money problem they need to talk with my lawyer. For having my personal information this company must explain what is this all about it first.

I do not know who they are or what they want but I am on the no call list and somehow they found my number and conttinue to call up to 7 times a day. They need to be reported and found. Sounds like another scam to me too.

I am guessing a collection agency or scammer, likely a connection agency.  Mostly nobody is there.

I just called the 866-854-2113 number and a very professional representative answered and asked for the my number her company dialed.  She looked it up and the person's name was similar to mine.  She was very polite, she deleted my number, and noted in her file incorrect phonenumber for the person they were seeking.  Apologies were extended, pleasantries were exchanged and we hung up.  I had a good experience.

Have been receivingthese calls for more than a week several times a day at various times from 0800 - 1700 hrs.  When I do answer no one speaks, then line goes dead.  Got frustated and called the number back a "Tamra" answered but would not give give out any informations only that she was looking for someone.  We advised there was no one here by that name,  then refused to provide information about her company, only when I advised that by FCC reguations she had to advise her company she said she was from Professional Recovery Services, and that it was a personal matter.

Got woken up by these people 1 866 854 2113...they go under professional recovery. They refused to take my phone number off the calling list as I would not provide them with my son's telephone number. I don't know who these people are..how do I know they are not just looking for another person to harrass. I am going to report them to the FCC as well. Can anyone tell me how to do this? They did not even know the number they called. Who the hell would want to work for a job like this? How could you be proud of harrassing people?

Friends, get Phone Tray Free! I did and LOVE it!!  It zaps whatever numbers/names you program into it,  and you can choose different recorded messages for the zap, like "The number you have called has been disconnected. Please make sure you have the right number and you have dialed it correctly." Or "This number is no longer in service." Or "The number you're calling does not accept blocked numbers."

So, what I do is that 1) every time I get a call from a suspicious number I don't recognize, I of course don't answer it, But rather, I check out the number on 800callnotes and if there are reports on it, I add it to the Zap list.

It's that easy. After i do that, when the nuisance callers call, the phone will ring once and then the recording comes on. You will love it. And as I said at another thread, no, I am not with the company!! :)
