I got a text today with the number 866-860-9705. the text said there had been possible fraud activity on my Visa card today. 1st I called my bank who confirmed there was NO activity on that card at all since my last use.

2nd, for fun I called the number and a machine asked for me to give the last 6 digits of my credit card. I was not about to give the real information so I punched in some random numbers. then it asked for my PIN number so again I punched in random numbers.

Then it hung up on me. lol...so if you get a text today telling you to call any number about your debit card...call your bank or card issuer directly and do not reply to the number sent via text.

My band assured me they would call me directly and never ask for my account number. I laughed when I called the number because I know they now have bogus info they cannot use at all!!!

i too got 3 texts from this number with in 5 mins. asking me to call about suspicious activity on my visa card.

we should be provided a way to back charge the bogus number for the text fee, and really nail it to them.  Afterall they have all this money from the "Suckers" they are ripping off.  - Share the wealth man.!!

Also put in bogus numbers and called bank first...kind of ruined my day, but not as bad as it could have been, I guess

Ha ha ha they just tried to text me again. I guess they got upset I gave them bogus information.

TO ANYONE GETTING TEXT FROM:

This is NOT from your Bank or Credit Card company. This is a bogus text meant to steal your bank information. Do not reply and instead call your bank to report the number.

THEN: call your phone carrier and report it to them.

Right now my phone company has no way to block texts that do not come from a Number. Maybe if they get enough reports from customers about these bogus companies they will figure out a way to start blocking these kinds of texts once they get enough reports on a particular company.

They are trying to steal your banking info. They don't need all of the numbers on your credit card if they manage to get your PIN. They have hackers on stand by who hack away until the decipher which bank and what the routing numbers are so they can charge things on your card.

They do it to credit and debit cards.

My husband and I have been getting these texts today too; I just got the 3rd one.

Question: Who is your cell phone provider everyone?

Mine is Sprint...was just curious if we all had the same provider.

I just got two text messages from these jerks to my cell phone. "SUSPICIOUS AUTHORIZATION" This is a straight up scam and these people should be reported to the police, how does one go about reporting this?

I use sprint as well. Wilmington, NC phone number.

Call Sprint and report it. They can't block text without a number. But if enough of us report this, maybe they will figure out how.

I contacted tech support instead of customer service and they have a meeting this afternoon.

So call now!!

What is the number to Sprint Tech support...in Wilm/with Sprint.  Same bogus text message x 3.

I thought it weird that a fraud prevention center would rely on automation. I hung up immediately and googled the number and came upon this forum. Oh, and Sprint phone w/ Wilmington number here too.

This would not be police but should be reported to FBI since it is most likely not a local only scam. It may well be a company or hacker group from across the country or over seas.

Report it to your bank.
Report it to your cell phone company.
Maybe we should all be reporting to the FBI too. Not sure about that one.

Just go to your Contact list and click Customer service and when the phone tree picks up, hit the button for tech support.

Add another Sprint Wilmington NC customer to the list. Text x3.
