I got a text that said, Hi KP, call me about the office assistant position you applied for (text Stop to cancel)". I tried calling the number but it just rang, then there was silence. Couldn't hear anyone on the other end or that anyone picked up. It just stopped ringing and there was silence. I immediately hung up because I was affraid it was scam or something. If it really was about a job, I just figure that they would call or e-mail. Texting is really tacky and unprofessional to take seriously. It is probably a scam.

Well, I don't know what to say--this appears to be a company that wants you to continue your education, and it is a very good possibility that this is just to get you to sign up for that. When I applied for the Criagslist "call center" job, (a very detailed posting, I will add), with hours of choice, etc., when you apply and send your resume(to a direct individual, which you think is directly from the employer), the site pops up for "greatcareeers.com"--you fill everything out, and they ask you in the app if you are interested in continuing education. You give job references, and they contact YOUR REFERENCES, and ask them if THEY want continuing education, too. All the while, they are asking your references about your level of integrity, character, etc. on a reference form. Today, I get a text from them saying to call re: the job. The lady verified my address, phone,etc--and asked if I had "15-75 minutes" to talk about my app". I said "fine"--we went over the name and sddress, then she asked what my level of education was. I told her, then she asked if I was interested in furthering my education at this time--I said "no". She thanked me, and said she would forward the app to the "employer", and that was the end of the conversation, all of less than 3 minutes. HMMM--and she wanted to know if I had 15-75 minutes to  spare. These scams make us all sick in these hard times--something needs to be done, as this is a crime, no doubt. How does one get them and shut them down (and prosecute)? So, am I correct in my assumption? Someone please assist me with validating this b/s. Or am I jumping the gun in my assumption? Yeah, right..
