- Jack| 2 repliesThey call my cell phone day and night, I spoke to a woman once. Actually It's hard to say I spoke to, because the lady was screaming at me, she had a heavy accent, it was impossible to understand what she was saying so I just said "Hello" a few times, and hung up.
- jennithey've called me now four times. twice i've missed them and they don't leave any message. the other two times it takes them a little while to switch over from the computer to their headsets. but after a few hellos from me i get a guy who says hello and then hangs up. it's starting to get annoying!
- DaveKeeps calling cell number, no message no answer when I call back
- Caller: unknown
- jenniferMine says its from Sprint/Nextel
- Call type: Telemarketer
- BobbyI just got called for the 5th time and its getting annoying time to block this number permanantly
- SteveI have been getting called by this number twice a day and there is never anyone there. Is this really Sprint calling or is it fraud? If it is Sprint I will cancel my service.
- FrankI've been getting them too....Damn [***]...Now, there are phone spammers, and they always hang up. Has anybody tried dialing this number? I know it's 866 (toll free) but maybe they want you to call this number, and you'll get charged for fees or something. I called Sprint and there's no way to block this number. All we can do is ignore it. Is this a scam by Sprint to use up your minutes? Doubt it, but you never know.
- FrankAnother thing too...Sprint told me that they can't block this number since my phone, a Sanyo, can't do that...All they can do is call the police and trace the call. But if they do this, guess who would have to pay the $20 trace call fee? Me. Sprint, you're screwed. I will not re-up with you when my contract is over. Nice customer service.
- SteveI just paid $15 to have a reverse phone number search done on this number. I doubt that it actually belongs to Sprint but I will let everyone know what I find out. My guess is that this number belongs to a data mining company that is mining Sprint numbers and when you enter your number on the do not call list then you have actually put your number on a list of known Sprint customers that they then sell.
- Steve| 1 replyUS Search confirmed that the phone number is registered to "Sprint".
- davecalled once a day last 3 days
- dave replies to Stevewhat can we do at this point?
- lee replies to JackI called the number and an automated message stated that it was sprint calling regarding promotions.. there are instructions to ensure that you won't get called again.. i didn't enter my number because i have no idea if this is true or not... i'll call sprint and get back to you..
- FrankComplain to Sprint. When I called them yesterday, the rep said that it was the first time a Sprint customer complained about this. I doubt this is the truth.
- jhas been calling me for a week straight at least twice a day and the time of day is random.
- SteveI don't know if will do any good but I sent a detailed email about this situation to executive.offices@sprint.com
- SteveMy new conspiracy theory: These calls originate from Celaya, Mexico and the Country code (52) and City code (461) are being truncated. I cannot explain how they get the extra digits after the Country code and City code to look like the call is from 866-862-3983 but it has been reported that every time someone has actually answered the call they speak in Spanish and one person reported that his caller ID reported 461-866-862-3983 and 461 is the City code for Celaya, Mexico. This would explain why calling 866-862-3983 (which apparently really does belong to Sprint) and entering your number to be removed from the calling list does not work because it is not really Sprint that is calling but someone in Celaya, Mexico trying to reach Spanish speaking Sprint customers and steal their personal information.
- JCI got a call from 866-862-3983 now once a day during weekday this week. Last week is 3-4 times a week. Start happening in the last few weeks. Never answer the phone so not sure who call
- JCJust got another call. For those don't know about US law...
Federal Communications Commission regulations prohibit telemarketers from using automated dialers to call cell phone numbers. Automated dialers are standard in the industry; so most telemarketers are barred from calling consumers on their cell phones without their consent. Customers can file a complaint by e-mail to donotcall@fcc.gov; telephone 1-888-CALL-FCC (1-888-225-5322) voice or 1-888-TELL-FCC (1-888-835-5322) TTY, or mail. The complaint should include:
* Name, address and telephone number where the complainant can be reached during the business day;
* The telephone number involved with the complaint; and
* As much specific information as possible, including the identity of the telemarketer or company contacting you, the date on which you placed your number on the national Do Not Call registry or made a company-specific do-not-call request, and the dates of any subsequent telemarketing calls from that telemarketer or company. - SteveI cancelled my Sprint service and according to the customer representative on the phone they will not charge me the early termination fee.
