I received a blocked call from a "county courier" asking to schedule a time to come to my house to serve me with county court documents. She said if I had any questions I should call 1-866-864-2593. I called and spoke to Michael Goldsmith. He told me he was in the court claims department and was going to be served for an overdrawn checking account from 7 years ago. First of all, I never overdraw my checking account. I did close that account because US Bank were nickel and dining us over fees. I withdrew my money and closed the account. Sayonara.

Anyway at first I thought "Michael Goldsmith" was some sort if claims court employee but then he told me Zi could just pay him $700 to avoid be served. At this moment I realized it was a very clever collection call. It will be interesting to see if the fake "process server" will come to my house next week. I'll have 911 on speed dial because impersonating a process server is a crime.

Hey i received a call from a private number. I didnt the phone. A lady named Andrea Dawson lefted a message stating that she is a court courier and she will deliver some court documents to my house today. I don't know who thses people are but I'm home and I'm waiting

I think these people are trying to scam you. Don't give them any money. Did they show up to your house?

The Federal Trade Commission (FTC), the nation's consumer protection agency, is warning consumers to be on the alert for scam artists posing as debt collectors. It may be hard to tell the difference between a legitimate debt collector and a fake one. Sometimes a fake collector may even have some of your personal information, like a bank account number. A caller may be a fake debt collector if he:

•is seeking payment on a debt for a loan you do not recognize;
•refuses to give you a mailing address or phone number;
•asks you for personal financial or sensitive information; or
•exerts high pressure to try to scare you into paying, such as threatening to have you arrested or to report you to a law enforcement agency.

If you think that a caller may be a fake debt collector:

•Ask the caller for his name, company, street address, and telephone number. Tell the caller that you refuse to discuss any debt until you get a written "validation notice." The notice must include the amount of the debt, the name of the creditor you owe, and your rights under the federal Fair Debt Collection Practices Act.
If a caller refuses to give you all of this information, do not pay! Paying a fake debt collector will not always make them go away. They may make up another debt to try to get more money from you.•Stop speaking with the caller. If you have the caller's address, send a letter demanding that the caller stop contacting you, and keep a copy for your files. By law, real debt collectors must stop calling you if you ask them to in writing.
•Do not give the caller personal financial or other sensitive information. Never give out or confirm personal financial or other sensitive information like your bank account, credit card, or Social Security number unless you know whom you're dealing with. Scam artists, like fake debt collectors, can use your information to commit identity theft – charging your existing credit cards, opening new credit card, checking, or savings accounts, writing fraudulent checks, or taking out loans in your name.
•Contact your creditor. If the debt is legitimate – but you think the collector may not be – contact your creditor about the calls. Share the information you have about the suspicious calls and find out who, if anyone, the creditor has authorized to collect the debt.
•Report the call. Contact the FTC and your state Attorney General's office with information about suspicious callers. Many states have their own debt collection laws in addition to the federal FDCPA. Your Attorney General's office can help you determine your rights under your state's law.

Person left me a phone# 866 864 2593 to call him back using Acct#417998-AU regarding a lawsuit and needed address to be delivered and served.  I know as a fact there is nothing I have done to be sued or served for.

My wife just recieved a call from this number,the so called county courier is to be here on thursday around 5pm to serve papers from someone wanting to file a claim against us but wont tell us who.We will be waiting here on thursday with the cops in close contact and we will file charges against them for impersonating a claims server.

My husband got a call today... a woman named Trisha Daniels left him a voicemail saying that there was a "claim" against us and that they would be here on Thursday, before 5pm to serve us.  They claim they have out social security numbers, etc.  Didn't say what company they were with.  I can't think of anything we could be getting sued for.  Did any of you actually have these people show up??  What happens if they do try to serve you?  Obviously if it is a fake debt collector, the "claim" would be invalid... so what do I do?  Just not pay it?  Call the police?  If I call the cops they probably wouldn't stick around if they are not actual process servers, correct?  

I just received a "private call" from Tosha Daniels to call 866-864-2593 to avoid process service on claim #444-173.  The would be papers are to be served on Wednesday, February 5, 2014.  From the information I have read, I'll be certain to have the police ready should this Tosha Daniels person show up.

The would be process servers calling from 866-864-2593 never showed on Wednesday, Feb. 5, as I reported they threatened on Feb. 3, 2014.  They have moved to a new callback number, 855-767-0557.  They're still using the same threat, but a different claim number. The caller from the "private number" has changed her name to Sarah Dean.  She threatened to serve the court papers with my name and SSN to my residence or my place of employment, interesting since I'm self-employed.  Her time to deliver today, Feb. 10, was between 1:00 and 3:00 CST.  She was a no show.  I'll be reposting this information under the new number they're using.

I received a call a moment ago from 8668642593 and was told to reference a claim number. In short, the message said call the number to avoid being served. The message was very over-arching and did not provide any specifics. I too heard about the fake debt collectors. In reading the comments, I see there was a no-show. Did anyone else have a no-show or actually called the number back to hear more information?

**Update***: I also filed a complaint with the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau. I want to make sure there are enough complaints associated with the company who's using these tactics. Thanks M.B. for posting your experience.

Yesterday, I received a call from Jenna Daniels a private courier that she will be deliveing documents to my residence or job tomorrow if she does not receive a stop order. She would not tell me what it was and if I needed info to call 877.4000423. I called the number its suppose to be a law office LRA in San Diego. She wouldnt give me any info because I refused to give her my social security number for verification. I got another called this morning for Jenna saying she will be delivering my docs today since she didnt received a stop order.

What should I do?

Yep! I also received a voicemail message stating to call 1 866 864 2593 from a Tasha Daniels. She said the exact same stuff thats been quoted above. Tell me, what is it about Thursday no later than 5p. I'm glad i Googled the phone number to come across this blog. I was definitely gonna ask for company information as well.
