Received a call told the gentleman I was at work and could not talk, he asked if he should send me a letter, I said yes.  Received a letter on 3/28/22 stating that they must discuss my application for Alaska Airlines Visa Signature card.  I have never applied for any such card.

Received a similar letter from BOA for the same card and two letters from BOA regarding application for "Free Spirit World Elite Mastercard".   I did not make those applications.  My credit accounts are frozen.

Luckily I stopped it and I closed all access to the credit bureaus because of this now they are asking for me to release my restriction it's a scam!!! Beware!!

Same here, although I got a letter in the mail first. I decided to call the actual Bank of America customer service line, but can’t seem to get through after waiting almost an hour. How else can we report this?

Have you considered visiting a BofA branch office?  You might get a better result with a face to face visit than over the phone.

Received letter at my mother's house addressed to me (haven't lived there in 30+ years) requesting confirmation for recent application to BofA Unlimited Cash Rewards Visa Signature Card. Have not applied. Also not able to get through to a real person at BofA. Already have fraud alert on my credit reports - added Freeze to Experian.

Missed a call about a week ago, called back and woman said she was from BoA.  She started asking me for info.  I told her, if you called me, shouldn't you know it?  I hung up.  Today, I get a letter in the mail with what appears to be BoA logo saying they need me to unlock my reports so I can get the Air France KLM Mastercard I applied for.  The actual Bank of America call center transferred me three times and on the fourth transfer hung up.

See MJG's post above and talk to someone at one of BoA's branches.  If someone is trying to open a credit card account with them in you name, they can stop it.  If that is not the case and/or they tell you the letter is not from them, take the letter and the envelope it came in to your local Post Office and have them forward it to the local Postal Inspector for investigation of Mail Fraud.

Received the same letter for a card I never applied for.  I called non stop hold and then transferred. Hung up.  Very Happy I have my accounts locked at all 3 credit bureaus.  It's free and I can unlock at anytime I wish.  Do it and save yourself the headaches.

Same here.  Second letter received like this but other was supposedly from a different bank a few months back.  Very official looking, but called BOA from my actual statement.  They asked me to scan and report to abuse@bankofamerica.com as could not verify the number being BOA.

I received 2 letters today claiming to be from bank of America and saying I applied for a MasterCard and that I need to lift credit freeze. I think this number has been blocked by me recently when I didn't answer and they didn't leave a voicemail.

I received a letter stating They are reviewing my application for Norwegian Cruise lines. I never signed up for this. The man who answered told me he was connecting me with the fraud dept - then told me he was sending my info to their investigating dept.

Got the same letter, saying to unlock my accounts which I had to do because someone somehow had gotten my information off the dark web and was applying for cards about two years ago. I had called the banks and told them to flag my name and my information so that shocked me to get this. you have to assume it’s the same person who was hacking you and stealing your identity before that they never go after and they never catch. I confirmed with BOA that this was a scam.
It’s hard to know when anything is real anymore!

Go to the FTC  web-sight report BOA for Scam..  It's not BOA doing the scam.. but they should be notified. I will not waste my time calling BOA which has nobody on the line to talk to and would not do anything about this.   FTC at least make record of activity..
