Its the police. General Investigation unit. They called me, and i was weary about an 800 number for cops. Apparently its like a dispatch center. Either way, The cop i spoke with actually came to my house afterwords as i didnt believe he was a cop. The [***] then served me court papers.

This is a special non-published central dispatch number for police departments, county sheriffs, customs and immigrations, homeland security and other law enforcement departments all over the country. They use this ph# when calling from personal cell phones or other offices where direct incoming calls are not practical. The number is toll-free as well.

I can't tell you how I know this as I would lose my job, but trust me, it's real.
