Wanted me to tell one of my neighbors to call him back. It was coincidental that the house number was the exact opposite of mine, too.
Caller: Albert P...    He had a thick hispanic accent I could not understand.

Is calling my family and saying they are trying to get a hold of me, and when I called them and asked who this was they said we have many co.'s The number I called was 866-873-8655

Caller could not totally be understood,thick Indian dialect,had every thing
repeated several times.Wanted me to get a msg to my daughter to call him.
when I asked what for I was told it was her personal business.Thinking it might be legit,I called my daughter with the number to call,she knew nothing about him.When I asked 1st where he was calling from he stated California headquarters, I asked WHERE ARE YOU AT , he stated India. He is a
crook or working for one.His name SEAN BLUE, BEWARE OF CALLS FROM PEOPLE WITH DIALECT YOU CAN,T UNDER STAND,with names that don,t match the dialect

Caller, named Mark Smith, with a thick accent called my place of employment.  I was not in that day and my co-worker took a message.  He would not state his business. He also asked my co-worker for my hours.

Someone with foreign accent who called himself Shane and wanted me to tell my neighbor to call him back.  Wouldn't say what it was in regard to...said it was personal and when I asked the name of company, he gave the name of a weird sounding company which he spelled out like Vantdvdge.  A very strange phone call.

ONE WORD FOR EVERYONE!FRAUD!!!! This so called Indian guy called my parents home looking for me. Of course I returned to the call to find out what this was all about. 1St. I could not understand him AT ALL! he said his name....some indian name, and then he asked me for my name. He said to hold for a moment....well the moment turned out to be more then a moment. He came back with this stupid line like "can you spell you name for me" Yeah right...if he was a creditor he would know my name...trust me they know your full name. Then he said that my last name was "GERDO" that not my last name....then I told him to stop calling me and I was going to call the police! If he really was a bill collector, they know your name, address and CORRECT telephone number....PLEASE WHO EVER IS READING THIS DO NOT GIVE THIS PERSON YOUR TIME OF DAY! DO NOT GIVE ANY INFORMATION ABOUT YOURSELF AND DO NOT GIVE OUT YOUR BANK ACCOUNT INFORMATION!

Got a call from Ricky Dawson at the above number asking me to relay his message to a neighbor. My neighbor never heard of him.

This phone number is from Global Vantage, a debt collection agency.  I was angry when I saw my neighbor was bothered and asked to give me a message so I looked up the laws on it. Here is what I found:

It is legal for debt collection agencies to call a neighbor, family member, etc..., but ONLY when it is to collect "Location Information". They CANNOT ask the person to do anything like giving you a message, even if it is just to have you call them back. This is covered in the FDCPA (Fair Debt Collection Practices Act). If they already have your information then the that means they are calling your neighbor to harass you. Keep in mind that they can contact your neighbor if they think that they don't have your correct info (because you have not responded), but they still cannot ask your neighbor to give you a message.

You can be awarded statutory damages in excess of $1000 + actual damages if you choose to take legal action. Just get your neighbors testimony in writing and/or get them in on the lawsuit.  Heck maybe a class action could be started against these guys for repeated offenses! That would be a nice way to pay down that debt eh?

The phone number 1-866-873-8655 is a company called credit acceptance corp . it is a finance company that loans money for car loans ect.  to people with poor credit.Do not take a loan from them as they will harass you every day like they have done my son.He owed 1 month payment and they called him 6-8 times a day.

This number is from Credit Acceptance but they are located in India.  When I called them back because I have an account with Credit Acceptance, they couldn't see any of my information.  I told them to stop harassing me and to have the corporate office to call me if they have a question or concern about my account and to stop calling and harassing me.  I then hung up on them.  I wouldn't give them any information if you were smart... you do not know who you are talking to.

We have had four calls from this number today- we check the Caller ID and if it is this number we do not answer. They left a message identifying themselves on the first call.

If we answer, they ask for our son, who does not use our number at all.

We had been getting these and other similar call numbers but a week ago we made sure we had validated our "Do Not Call" request.  We had a full week of no calls and now they are back again.

What can be done about this?  It is a big nuisance having to check for Caller ID everytime the phone rings and we should be legally protected since we are on the Do Not Call list.
