Caller ID says University of C. Of course I have a high school senior so I answer. A debt collector recording... BLOCKED!

Caller had heavy accent and said he was with a debt collector.

Got a call from them today, I answered by immediately requesting to know who they were trying to reach.  The name the man provided was incomprehensibly foreign sounding (sounded like a south/southeast Asian name if I were to guess)  I told him that there was no one here by that name and he ended the call.

I've been  getting calls from this number for about a week. My cell phone number is a new number, so I don't answer calls from a number that I don't recognize.. I called the number back with my number blocked  to find out the name of the company I heard music was put on hold then someone answered,as a result I hung up. I feel when you call a number back a company is suppose to say their name and if they don't that raise a red flag with me. So I have no idea who they want to speak to or who they are, or what they want. My answering machine has not been set up yet.

I received a call from them regarding an urgent care bill of mine. I was wondering if they were scammers, but the information they provided are exactly matching with mine, so finally I think they are collectors for medical center. I don't know why didn't the medical center send me a bill before letting a collector call me

This caller said he was from United Collections, although I had to ask him to repeat himself several times before I understood him. American accent, but the call quality was poor. He was calling on behalf of my hospital about an unpaid debt. My issue had been resolved months ago so I don’t know why I still get these calls. He asked for some personal details about my insurance and I refused to give them out. Very strange call- either he was new at his job or it was a scam.

What is 'University of C?"  Dead air when I picked up at 8:23 PM. I'm 60. Both my degrees are from WVU; not interested in your rip off school. I'm a Mountaineer!

This number called me and said they were a debt collector and that I owed $1,500, however I have no debt since I do not even own a credit card and I'm still a dependent. The guy on the phone said he was not here to convince me but I had debt I need to pay right now. It's a scam, do not pick up.

Its illegal for hospitals or any medical office to harass through phone calls..

Been calling me three times a day so after the last call I called my hospital and was transferred to the billing department and they said my insurance covered that bill a few days after my er visit it's a huge scam

Was called by a machine which said something like, "Please hold for an important business call." I decided to hold just to burn up their time, but after a few minutes the machine said, "We're sorry, but there are no agents available at this time. We'll call back later."

Now they're calling to bother us and can't even be bothered to talk. There is an extra hot place in hell reserved for telemarketers.

They called yesterday. Caller ID said it was the University of C....
The rest was the same experience others have reported.

Caller ID said it was the University of C.... Message was from a bill collector.
I've never been on the campus of University of C... and I have no student loans.

I got call this morning from this company they asked for krogers account payable department.  I was so confused I couldn't understand what the person was saying because of his thick accent.

Caller ID shows as below in Caller. I blocked the number some time back as this is a new "land line" number for me and I haven't given it out except to family.

Why does everyone think that their number is "new".  There are no new numbers anymore.  They are all recycled.
