Called asking for someone that does not work here.

No Name. No Message. from (866) 893-6565 never made the attempt to do so.

* This is Symantic -- the anti-virus software wa are all familiar with -- making a sales call
* I had filled out a survey several weeks ago (Network World) on security requesting a 'white paper'. This was a sales-person making a cold call. He did leave a nice msg.
* A call-back produces a system with 6 options ... one of them to renew your PKI/SSL certificates.

this number (866) 893-6565 calls a 7 yr old flip phone of my 90 yr old father every day. He does not have anything Symantic.  I called that number from a different phone and it went straight to the desk of someone in a department dealing with corporate accounts. I blocked the number on his phone as I have done on other nuisance calls but this one gets through the block. They call 3 times every morning - there is no voice mail on his phone, it is used to call me and my brother only.  Symantic said it isn't them and are aware that their number is being spoofed, and are trying to fix it. The proof it is being spoofed is because it can't be blocked - it isn't really them, the number that is showing up, while it is their number, that is showing up "spoofed" in the caller ID which is why it is getting through the block.

Don't know who it is.  When I call back, the outgoing recording says "SYMANTEC", but no other identifying information is given. Being of a "suspicious" nature, my guess is that "symantec" **MIGHT** be a part of it's name, but I am doubtful that it is the symantec software company.  If it were, I would assume that the name would be properly displayed in my caller ID, not "hidden" as it is now. I set up a block for that number without investigation further.

This # called and left message re:white paper requested regarding privacy info for state of CT. I did request this, this mans voice had a HEAVY (Scottish??) brogue and was kinda hard to understand as he spoke as fast as I do! He did actually say he was from semantic (sp?) and that they work computer security for state of CT. IDK if this helps anyone as I'm the least likely to be familiar with anything cyber/computer/internetville related!! He did ask me to call if I had any further questions and never called again afterward. His name was Michael Jenkins.

This caller left a message.  They got my number because I downloaded a copy of "Web Hosting for Dummies".

Called from 520- 477-3113. Someone at that "800notes" page said they tried to sell "SSL" services!  520 is Arizona area code. "Regan" called from "Symantec" at 2:28 pm  2.22.19.  Talked like he's from Australia..."G'Day mate!"  Said I attended a webinar for firefox or chrome.  NOT!!  FRAUD! Gave number( 866-893-6565) with extension for call back number. Then sent email. Like above my info must've been 'sold' from some other source.  GREAT! Didn't give permission but it's probably in the 50 pages of fine print!!!  AGGGHH!!
