This number is a print company online that will print cards, greeting cards, and other printed products. There was a large amount of advertising and "buy this too" stuff on their site, but if you're careful, you can get what you want and not order a bunch of stuff you don't want.  In my view they are legitimate, however, high-pressure purchase sales site with too many hoops to jump through to make a purchase.  I'm happy with my purchase, but I'll never use them again.  Too much of a hassle.  I understand why someone might think they didn't order something and did, there's a lot of "click here to auto-add this product" stuff to weed through to place an order.

was this ever resolved that it was indeed from Vista print? I to have been charged with out my concent the 7.95 this month under the heading "american express collection". Upon calling vistaprint, whom I haven't done business with in over 9 months, they swear it's not them, not a third party etc. I'm at a road block and will probably just have to cancel my credit card and start over. You response is much appreciated. thank you!

I called the number given by hw and I told them this account was called for more than 8 yrs ago. When you cancelled your merchant services, they did not cancel Amex' services. So, they started charging me when they noticed the account was supposedly not cancelled.  I was reimbursed immediately.

    THANK YOU, HW!!!

Thank You so much HW, your information was 100% helpful. Pretty much the same that happened to "lol"; in my case some Rip Off, Scam merchant service company called "Choice Merchant Solutions, from the State of Conneticut they are Sub-Contractor for EMS - Electronic Merchant Services" a while back ripped me off by offering me something and then showing up with a lot of lies after contract was signed, and this was one of the hidden things they never explained that they will request a separate merchant number for me from AMEX, but thanks to you I was able to solve that problem. So you know everybody be aware when signing contracts with the first gentelman in a suit that walks in your door; watch out specially Northeast Area MA, CT, RI, NY, NH for this "Choice Merchant Solutions - 860.296.1300' company specially if they send out their 007 Scammer salesman Mr. Luis Acosta, honestly this gentelman has a 6th sense to lie and get you involve and then disappearing, even altered my contract to look good in front of the company after I complained to them when finally it was possible to reach his boss because it seems that they all know their ripping off so they are ready to hide when you find out, the only way that it was possible for him to face the problem was after I filed a complaint with the local Conneticut BBB (Better Business Bureau) and he shows up stating I had signed a contract and he has nothing to do with that but my copy from the original was different, different information was written after I signed, right now I am starting a  lawsuit agaisnt them, and again thanks HW for your information, since the charges from AMEX never showed any contact number.

If you are a retail establishment, call your merchant credit card processor and ask them what American Express Collection is.  I did this for our company and the processor gave me a number to call American Express which I did.  I was told this was for an old dormant account.  They are refunding my two debits of $7.95 and closing this dormant account.  Apparently my processor company was bought out so a "new account" was opened for all their merchants.  If I hadn't called I suppose this charge would continue.  Call American Express and get your money back.

Call 1-800-528-5200. If is for 7.95, you likely canceled your merchant account, and they didn't tell you have to cancel the AMEX account personally.

If you want more detail I explain below:

I guess what happens is American Express don't allow third parties to manage their merchant accounts...so when you open a merchant account, they automatically create an account in your name with AMEX. In fact, if you ever had a issue with AMEX, you will have to talk to AMEX directly. Your merchant account will just refer you to them if you have a question. AMEX will only talk directly to the owner of the merchant account, no third party. Of course, I never had anyone pay with AMEX on my site with any issue, so I never even realized this whole dynamic even existed. However, once you call them just tell them when you canceled the merchant account, they will just apologize and refund you the money.

Make sure you keep the charge listing handy:

ACH Withdrawal AMERICAN EXPRESS /  PAYMENT DATE 12034 - COLLECTION XXXXXXXXXX

They will need that 10-digit number at the end, after the word, "COLLECTION".They are very cool about the whole thing. They will even send you a confirmation letter to an address of your choosing. The call will take you all of 2 minutes. Your money will be back your account in 2-3 business days.

Its a very common issue, merchants accounts typically forget to tell you have to cancel AMEX yourself.

    I hope this helps,

    -Ian FK

I didn't get a call, but I found this outfit (Vistaprint - Netherlands - same phone number) had a recurring payment scheduled on my Paypal account! I've never had business with them, so I don't know how they got into it. I canceled the scheduled payment so they didn't get anything. I wonder if this was the leak that allowed someone from Amsterdam to hack into my bank account and take almost all of my paycheck a year ago.

I also recieved the $7.95 charge taken from my bank account. I called the number listed and was informed that  a merchant account was opened for my business by Online Data Corp.   We have never done business with Online Data Corp.  Amex did agree to close the account and credit the $ removed from my account. I suggested to Lilly the woman that II spoke to at Amex that they may want to review how they open accounts and that they may want to review their relationship with Online Data Corp. I doubt that they will do this though as I am sure that many business will miss the fee or mistakenly believe that they owe Amex.  I used to think Amex was a reputable company. HW THANK YOU FOR THE # 800-528-5200

Wow! Your rock for this thread and for posting that AMEX number. They gave me back two years worth of those $7.95 fees as I really did not notice it until now. They were polite and friendly and all I needed was my name, former business name and SS and it was done. I should get my refund in my account in 48 hours and they have confirmed the complete cancelation. I rate AMEX handling this matter with Five Stars but without this thread I would have been bounced back from my bank to the sub par credit processing firm that I hate to deal with. Thanks Again community!

I applied for merchant card service through Chase bank but I cancelled them. Chase Bank said they cancelled everything but American Express was still taking 7.95 each month. Ifound out that Chase Bank did not cancel the American Express merchant account.

I just called American Express Merchant at 1-800-528-5200 and they said this would need to be turned over to a Merchant Specialist at ---> 866-333-3957 <---  The representative refunded the 7.95 fee for the past 6 months I was being charged and cancelled the account. They were very nice to deal with. :)
