- D replies to SteveThey've called twice. First time was for a document. Second time was for a contract. Also, the caller (with a broken english accent) became angry and told me I was a liar. All I gave was that the number called was not correct and provided no additional info.

- BillGot a call to my business number- popped up as a possible scam so I let it go to voicemail. It was from Jasmine Stroud saying she worked for legal courier services (no company name - red flag #1) stating that she has court-ordered documentation that she received about one of our employees or staff members (didn't say the name - red flag #2) and wanted to verify policies and procedures in place in order to have the employee located and retrieved on the property (red flag #3 - this doesn't make sense. Real process services do not call ahead. Court-ordered documents will either be served directly to the person or if they need to be arrested, they will do that in person as well and not call the business ahead of time. Legal couriers only deliver the papers - they are not involved with negotiating, arresting, or resolving the issue. This is clearly a scare tactic.) She said it was imperative to call back immediately with any questions or concerns and provided a case/claim number and then provided an 833 number when the caller ID was from the 866-901-3623 number.

A women with a strong foreign accent calling from an 800 number left a voicemail on mine and my mother’s phone regarding an attempt to contact regarding a legal matter and that I needed to contact them back ASAP.
Since I know very well this isn’t how these things are handled, I decided to call back stating I was my attorney contacting them on my behalf. The man on the other end stated I had reached “Hudson Legal” and asked me for my name and case number (Eileen Ulic). He told me he couldn’t give me any information and that I needed to email him proof that I was my clients lawyer. I very calmly followed the conversation and all steps when at the very end I let him know I knew this was a scam and that they could go to h*ll. He proceeded to curse me out and hang up on me (LOL).
Please don’t fall for these calls! And if you’ve never trolled a scam caller, 10/10 recommend.- Caller: LCS/Hudson Legal

- Billie Jean| 1 replyA Middle eastern accent lady called and left a VM looking for my sister at her old address (which she moved out 10 years ago. [Note: There was a lot of other voices mumbling in the background and also heard a cough from her nearby coworker. Sounded like a call center.]
Stated her name was Nicky calling from LSC in attempt to reach my sister. Mentioned about failed attempts to contact my sister and to call back to verify whereabouts. Paraphrasing but more jibbering of "Court order this, legal that, blah, blah...I've been warned." Why am I the one being warned?
I also got a text message as well which reads "This is not a solicitation. This is an attempt to verify the day-time whereabouts of JaneDoe SS# 1234 for service and delivery. Please call (844) 405-9795 and reference 2021-83127 for extensions or to inform us of a location documentation should be sent to!

- Tygerkat replies to Billie JeanNah, it's the same old can of fake process server spam. Real process servers don't call in advance.

- AnaThank you all for posting the truth about this number.
Someone from this number left a message for a relative that passed away years ago about a court ordered appearance-scam of course- they pursued to leave a warning if the person did not attend and left a number-I did not call them back. No need. Then several weeks later this number left a message about looking for my husband needing to show up for court again leaving a warning.
Do not fall for this, it is a scam.- Caller: Not sure, courier

- BigAThe fake process server/location finder extortion SCAM usually consists of the following:
They mention that they have received a Fax document or some sort of complaint and that there is a pending legal matter or action about to filed against you to create the sense of urgency. They tell you that they are a “process server” and cannot give you the particulars of the case since the file is sealed. This is simply ruse to get you to call another number (often with a made-up case number) where they will ask for money to “make it go away” (this is actually the same place, they work in teams, one pretending to be the server, and the other usually pretends to be a lawyer). They threaten to serve you at home or at work. They tell you that if they serve you at work then they will need a supervisor, security, or HR person there as a witness, hoping that will cause you to panic over the alleged embarrassment of being served at work. They also tell you that you will need two forms of ID. None of which is true. Process servers do not ever call ahead so that you can dodge them. Process servers get paid to serve papers, nothing else. They certainly are not going to pass up a paycheck by telling you that you can avoid being served, they are not going to give you an extra day or even a few hours to get a “stop order”. Court documents are time sensitive and must be served within a certain amount of time. Remember that you can always call the local courthouse to see if there really is a lawsuit that has been filed against you.
It is incumbent upon them under the law to prove that the debt exists and that you owe it, and (this is the important part) that they have the legal right to collect it. You are not obligated under the law to prove that you don’t owe or that it is paid.
Federal law (FDCPA) requires them to send you a letter (US MAIL ONLY) postmarked within 5 days of their first contact that contains their name, physical address, the creditor’s name, and the amount of the alleged debt. It also must contains “mini-Miranda” telling you that it is an attempt to collect a debt and that all information will be used for those purposes. The one other important thing that this letter must also have in it is that you have a right to dispute the debt within 30 days of receipt of the letter and if you do so, all collection activity must be stopped until the debt is verified. If and when you get that letter you should immediately send that debt validation letter by certified, return receipt mail.
First, you should make a complaint at this Federal Agency, and while there you should also read up on how debt collection is supposed to work as well as what your rights in this matter are: https://www.consumerfinance.gov/
Also file complaints with the FTC: https://www.ftccomplaintassistant.gov/#crnt&panel1-1
Also file a complaint with your State Attorney General's office.
