Call back number regarding my "back tax debt . . ."  Smells like a scam.

Listened to this scammer....err, I mean, "caller" on my voice mail.  Yes, it is obviously a scam, since I do not have any tax debt.

I received a call from "Betty" today.  Left on my answering service, to call back ate 866-918-1918
Must be a scam. I owe no taxes at all.

Yep, total scam. I've never had tax debt. My friend from college, who has a US phone number for his girlfriend's family, receives these calls and he doesn't even live in the US. He's never paid taxes in the USA because he never had any job in the USA. He has no social security number or ATIN. That friend received a call from them as well.

The US government needs to start cutting IP Phone company access to the phone networks if companies don't implement STIR/SHAKEN protocol (to prevent caller ID spoofing) properly. After that, start ( locking up / issuing international arrest warrants for ) the executives of those IP phone companies and seizing all ( company / personal ) assets.

We swap lists of scam calling, and call back numbers, to report them as scams. We do it in the hope that we can stop someone's parent from getting ripped off.

Incidentally the scammers get awful mad when you call back start tying up their employees.

It has to be a scam. I owe no taxes at all.

Certain this is a scam because I have no tax debt and if someone did have a tax debt, no one should have access to this information.

FYI:  I have had 3 call from "Barbara" who sounds so pleasant, bubbly and sincere about helping me with my NON-EXISTENT tax debt. It's definately a SCAM. or FRAUD.   In addition, there's no info on the 800-918-1918 or the 3 different phone numbers she called from.

Received voice mail about tax debt [of which I have none].  Called 866-918-1918 back and was told they could relieve my tax debt with a few simple questions.  I told them I was going to put them on hold for a second... I never reconnected.

I agree! Just received the same call. I owe the IRS nothing!

Received a call at the school I work for. Asking me to return a call for a debt I owed. 7500.00! I owe the IRS nothing!

The same! Owe the IRS nothing. Same woman named Betty! SMDH

Beware, the quality of "Barbara's" voice is very persuasive.
Here's what she said: "Hey, it's Barbara. I'm calling you from Tax Resolution Center and give me a call back at 8669181918. it's regarding your back tax debt. Um I've got some great news for you with some new changes that have recently taken effect and I just wanted to discuss your repayment or eliminations options. It is imperative that I speak to you just as soon as possible. So again, my phone number is 866 9181918. I'm looking forward to hearing from you and have a great day and if you'd like to opt out of future calls, just please call back the toll free number."

Many calls from different numbers. So, it doesn't matter if you block the number calling. Girl named Barbara. Stating "I'm calling you from Tax Resolution Center and give me a call back at 8669181918. it's regarding your back tax debt. It is imperative that I speak to you just as soon as possible. So again, my phone number is 866 9181918. Same exact message word for word - even the Um

My mom has received 2 calls from Barbara (exact wording as previous person stated).  I called the number yesterday and a guy named Matthew answered.  I asked why they would be calling my mother since she has no back taxes.  He said it was a shot in the dark!!

These people need to be stopped ASAP!!

Relaxed bubbly speaker, Barbara. Saying she's got great news about tax resolution,  Yada Yada. Same script as others have reported here.   I have no back taxes.  Sheesh!

Got a call from 850-655-5789 and a call from 904-678-9269. Rang once and left a voicemail. Both were recorded messages from "Barbara of the Tax Resolution Center" calling about my tax debt. Callback number given was 866-918-1918.
