I received a text message from AARP asking for help supporting a Medicare bill, and when I made the appropriate text reply, I received a phone call from this number.  Not recognizing the number I didn't answer, but the call went to voice mail (which was not recognized as a "no answer."  The 'message' said to tell the operator your location to be connected to the appropriate representative in Congress, and then it started ringing - never answered by the way.  The number also appeared in the text, so you could call directly, or reply with "GO" and then you got the phone message.  I tend to believe it was 'real' because Congress is indeed considering such a measure, and there were a couple of other indicators that I have seen from texts and emails from AARP.  Since I had already contacted my representative on this subject, I saw no need to duplicate my efforts.

I too recieved the same call today. It was one of many that I get from the rep. for AARP in Congress. I always respond with a text and do not bother with the f/u phone call which is a recent thing!  As I gave my phone number to AARP so they could keep me informed of all SS or Medicare matters going on in Washington I don't come here to check out the number. The second call was unexpected as was the message,phone ringing etc.
